This is an excellent thread. By finding out this info now, you are helping everyone down the road when S-chassis hit the same transition from beater drift cars to factory restoration projects like AE86's have been doing lately.
Hopefully we can save the rareties while they still exist. |

I have seen a creamy yellow two tone owned by some old man. The most perfectly preserved 240 I have ever seen. He is probably original owner. I have never looked at the inside, but if he can keep the exterior this fucking mint, I'm sure the interior is perfect. I haven't seen it in a while so hopefully some bandwagoning doucher didn't offer him cash and he just said f it and took the money. But then again, I am rarely ever in my hometown anymore so he could still have it. I always wanted to make an offer, but I don't have enough storage to keep it.

^ Where is your hometown? lol. I'd LOVE to find another original creamy yellow two tone. Mine is going to be a lot of work to save. The NorthEast wasn't too kind to mine in the past....

does anyone know if the FIRST production SE hatches came with a sunroof? I have a buddy here in the east coast, who has a 1/89 hatch and it has a motorized sunroof. its a big ass sun roof too. like almost takes up the entire roof section.
can anyone confirm this, because I have never ran into a first production model 240. |

I like it, granted I doubt that picture does the color justice. I think I might end up ordering a spray can and paint a RC Shell that color just to see what happens.

Since you asked nicely... There are 101 Starfire Blue 1998 models, which means both '97 and '98 received the same exact amount in this color since there were only 202 total Starfire Blue produced.

22,065 Hot Red (#526) S13's were produced. So plenty of those to go around.

Rarest S15 Silvia color is now officially Super White (#326). Coming at only 123 total cars produced. They didn't start producing this color on the S15 until 06/2000.
Going to be hard to find a picture of a true Super White S15 since the most common S15 color is the Pearl White #WK0.

first off thanks for putting this thread together! fascinating stuff.
question. i noticed on the definitive paint thread a 89 only black. 505 Thunder Black but then on the paint chart on the first page of this thread, its missing. that and being a one year only color i would assume it would have low production numbers. is that not the case? |

Quick question - is your VIN database for the entirety of the S-chassis production across the world or just America? I notice you had rare colours for S13, 14 and 15 for all over the world but does that apply to the rest of the list?
I have a 1998 180SX Type X (S13) with 326 colour code on my tag. Where does that put me? |

found a little tidbit about convertibles
model year '92 only had three colors available (black, white, red "AG2") cherry red AH3 wasn't produced until March of '93 and while its already the least common color, a model year 93 vert in Cherry red is extra uncommon with only 216 made. |

Is your 180sx imported from Japan? If so, your car would be reflected in the Japanese production numbers. I have not done a chart or looked at any numbers for the Japanese production (other than the S15 Silvia).
