Rising Value of Classic Japanese Cars

Anyone else on here been following the steady rise in cost of classic Japanese cars recently? Say, the last 5 to 10 years?

Jalopnik posted an article yesterday referencing Black Book's findings of costs for classic Japanese Cars (they track used car values). Here is the list:

  • Honda 1964-70 S600/S800 Coupe $30,000, Roadster $35,000
  • Honda 1973-78 Civic $15,000
  • Honda 1976-78 Accord $5,500
  • Mazda 1979-85 RX-7 $12,500
  • Datsun/Nissan 1967-70 2000 Convertible $20,000
  • Datsun/Nissan 1968-73 510 Sedan $8,500
  • Datsun/Nissan 1970-73 240Z Coupe $37,500
  • Datsun/Nissan 1975-78 280Z $25,000
  • Toyota 1963-78 FJ40 Land Cruiser $70,000
  • Toyota 1966-69 Sport 800 Coupe $25,000
  • Toyota 1967-75 Corona $18,000
  • Toyota 1969-73 Corolla $5,000
  • Toyota 1971-78 Celica $11,250
  • Toyota 1979-81 Supra Coupe $8,000
Some of the values seem high, but the list is for 'clean condition cars with low mileage'. Do you think these classics will continue to rise in cost, or do you think they will plateau out at some point in time? Here is a link to the original article:

They'll continue to rise for sure. Supply is going down as demand either stays constant or slightly increases and prices go up

Those prices are highly inflated. Also how the hell can you have low mileage on a 40-50. Year old car lol. Those cars were driven and even ones that weren’t were eventually.

Old ass low mileage cars do exist. My 67 fairlane has 50k original miles on it, most was put on it by my wife driving it during high school and college.

Definitely inflated. I dealt with lowballers all day selling my '85 RX-7 GSL-SE for $3500.

Oh, all of these cars are expensive, everyone knows Japanese used cars are very good quality.
