Help with 1997 240sx
I just recently bought a 1997 Nissan 240sx, but it has a few problems, so I was wondering if you guys could help me with them a little. I'm new to the 240sx scene, and new to cars pretty much, but I'm willing to learn and work on everything. Ok, so here are the problems: There's a minor oil leak, and the gauge cluster doesn't work. I was just wondering if any of you have any suggestions of where to check first before I go in and take the whole thing apart. Thanks, guys! |

your going to get flamed on this site for such an statement.
Suggest you get enrolled in a automotive service program at your highschool if you can. oil leaks can come from just about anywhere, if you want to be lazy, take it to a repair shop and ask them to dye test it. they put ink dye in the oil that lights up when a uv light is shined on it, they run it for a few mins then lift it up and look, but most of the time these ka's leak from front cover, pan seal and if your lucky the valve cover. as far as cluster, get a circuit tester not A TEST LIGHT, read up on how to check continuity and get a factory service manual. mine had issues, found all my problems in the driver side fenderharness. if yours has coilovers on it, its a 85% chance they rubbed through the wires and did a crap job in repairing it... check there first for damage. SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH JOIN NICO they like noobs

^ Agree
Oil leaks are just something you'll have to look for. As far as the gauge cluster.. If you need to access it, unbolt your steering column clamshell then take out the gauge cluster bezel to get to the cluster bolts. |

Ok, thanks for the help.
I wish our school had an automotive class, but I go to such a small school that we barely have anything. And sorry for being such a noob, but everybody has to start somewhere. |
