Sr20det dumping oil out dipstick
Just a question, sr20det, blows out dipstick, oil everywhere, but zero oil in my catch can. No smoke, runs mint, think it's rings or pcv?

Are you sure you have the catch can hooked up right? It sounds like you're pressurizing the crank case. Can you post a picture of your catch can hoses and pcv routing.

Yes I will post a picture tonight after work, I am unsure of the correct routing, it's my first sr and the previous owner has the car set up very badly, just starting to figure out all the issues, it only pushes the dipstick out at higher then stock boost levels.

Ok since your new to sr, stop boosting it for a couple days til we can help you go thru it and make sure you don't make anything worse.
How long have you had the car? What have you changed since you got it from the po

Haven't changed anything since I got it last night, car is a track missle so it's not being driven, car needs work, it's got a 20g on 12-14ish psi, no boost controller, no tune, single can mad, stock injectors, front mount. And a cheap catch can. I have no info and will have to take a closer look at it tonight. So I can figure out what I need to order to get it going in the right dorection

You are probably over boosting.
Do you have boost gauge installed?? If you do check your gauge. Manual boost controller of some sort? |

No controller, ebay waste gate, boost is at 14 psi, no spikes or insane over boosting or anything

Dip stick popping out usually the cause is over boosting, causing too much pressure in the crankcase.
Check and confirm boost pressure. Most likely cause is a faulty turbo actuator. |

12psi+ is too much for factory ecu and injectors with that size turbo.
If actuator rod is adjustable try setting it to lower boost, 7psi max! Also how is the set up on your catch can? Edit: external wastegate? Swap out to a softer spring for 7psi |

I am aware that the stock ecm, injectors etc is not good for 14 psi. What I'm saying is the cheapo ebay turbo installed by the previous owner has a waste hate that is set at 14 psi so there is nothing I can do at the moment, I'm am not knowledgable enough to tell you know the pcv system and catch can are routed so I will post pictures after I get home from work.

I am also unaware of how to adjust the actuator rod. I really do not know a lot about this at all, that's why I'm asking for help, I misread your previous post

It's popping due to high crank case pressure. 14psi on that turbo is not going to cause high enough crank case pressure unless your rings are bad and your getting a bunch of blow by.

Would like to see how you have your crank case breather and pvc set up.
I would do a leak down test.

Okay I will post a picture of the pcv, and catch can and everything tonight, and as for a leak down test I have never done that, I only know how to do a basic compression test, is it something I can do with rented equipment or is it more involved?

I don't know if the auto parts stores loan leak down testers. You will have to check. You will need a air compressor. As long as you have that it's very easy to do.

I cannot seem to find a leakdown tester, will a standard compression tester do? Or will I need to buy one

You can start with doing a compression test. Put oil in any cylinders that are low then retest and see if compression comes up. If it does you need to do a leak down.

Get pics of the catch can system before worrying about compression test. Takes a lot less time for us to tell you it's hooked up backwards(which in 90% sure based on description)

I agree. Your rings would have to be really bad to be popping out the oil dipstick at such low boost pressure.

Still waiting to be out of work to get a pictures but it appears to run down the side of the valve cover towards the front of the car, then down to the catch can and the other side of the catch can goes to the intake

first off thats the wrong dipstick for that engine so you are probably over filling the engine oil.
Either that or you have really bad blow by from worn piston rings

Catch can seems to be ok. Try testing out your pcv, it's the little fitting on the back passenger side of the valve cover. It should only blow one way
