1st time at the track
Hey guys i finally got the 240 going and took her to the track today, went to hte worst possible one (as far as track prep and elevation) but still suprised the heck out of myself. Tell me what you guys think of my times and where i could improve my driving...
reaction-----.3180 60ft---------2.1948 330 ft-------6.2980 1/8 et-------9.66 1/8 mph-----73.30 heres my list of mods 1990 240sx se s14 ka24de w/ intake mani from s13 and dizzy from s13 (s13 ecu) pacesetter header 2.75" full exhaust (no cat) removed all emission stuff custom cold air intake Ran these times on a set of used dry rotted tires, and cut springs, so im thinking if i stiffen up my suspension and get some good meat i should be low 9's, my friend that wentwith me has a s13 w/sr20 and his best time was a 9 flat so im not too far off, but im hoping to break 9.5 without any more motor work (just driving experience hopefully). Just wondering also if stiffer suspension will make a big difference in my times? and im also welding up the diff so i can get traction... try not to flame me too much here, im excited cause everyone told me i wuoldnt break into the 9's with my setup, and my first run of hte day was a 9.7 so i am still SUPER excited. So with a good set of tires, welded diff and stiffer suspension what kind of times should i look for? |

dont really want to drag, it was just for fun, all my friends were going and i went, i was just proud cause they all said the fastest s14 up there with my mods was 10.3 , i really dont like drag all that much, but its fun sometimes.

well i dont drag eithgre but from what I have read, your reaction time can improve a lot as well as your 60 ft times
just reducing those will net you noticeable gains without having to spend extra money |

im not like trying to be cheap or anyhting, i just figure the cheapest way to get faster times is to be a better driver, and im sure ill be going to the track once in a while, so id like to work on my times a little. that along with some better suspension (for autox and drifting also, since those are the main area's id like to compete in)

cut springs would probably help! more weight transfer, nice! But ditch that crap soon for real soon. Atleast get some nice shocks and some Whiteline springs or something. What was your technique on launching though? We might be able to help with that 60. you should be able to pull a 2.0 off which would help a lot.

and i was launching at about 3500, not getting on it too hard till it was finished spinning, i even tried a little lower to keep from spinning and it just bogged, so their really was no middle ground its either i bogged or spun a ton, the track spins a lot tho, i spin less on the street, its one of the worst tracks around for track prep, and i dont think the cut springs HELPED, their is no way, the car shakes and stuff cause one side seems cut lower than the other, i just got the car last week, and it was in pieces when i got it, missing a bunch of stuff too, so i just got it together saturday morning, had an exhaust welded up and went to the track, i was really impressed with its times tho, it was faster than most of the daily drivers there (civics, tegs, tiburons, a few gt's), i love my 240, im about to go pick up some new suspension in a few, so hopefully i may go back next week and see how that helped, either that or their is an autox in the area this weekend too, so i might hit that instead |

thanks, what are you running in the ca18? im thinking of doing that swap, i like the fact it has a timing belt instead of a chain and that it revs well, anyway, what else could i do to get better times? just stiffer suspension, lsd, and better tires?
and what all did u have done to your ka when you ran the 9.7? everyone yesterday said the s14 ka's that usually come up that have my mods run 10.1-10.3, so the 9.6 was a shocker |
