Holy fans and spacers! That car is something else, I wanna see it completed.
On the subject for intercoolers I picked up one today for free, about 2.5" thick- 8" tall- and 24" wide. Do you think its too small and possibly heatsoak? Im just running a HKS 2540 on 12ish pounds and looking to ditch the front mount for a V this winter, vented hood and all that. Also, it only has 2" inlets, too small?

My core is 21x9x3 and works perfectly. I did a custom hight mount and my intercooler temps never get above 100* on the hotside and around 90* cold side and I live in florida where its hot as hell. Running an S15R turbo on 12psi currently.

a little project ive been working on the last few weeks in my spare time, its a off road 4x4 buggy with a 1600 16v suzuki sidekick engine and trans, modified sidekick chassis with full custom tube frame,
frame is 99% finnished, all i have left is a few small straps in the bulkhead and the spare wheel carrier, im prety happy with the result. got the winch before the weekend, so fabed up the front end to suit it. its sitting on 6 x 10mm plate, and full tube frame built around it, it may have to be removed from the back as im thinking of putting mesh over to protect the rad, i also mounted two towing shackles on each side of the main tubes for winching off, think i have everything coverd, but you always forget something. i have a small bit left to finnish then it gets striped back down, and sent to powder coat, while its away, i have some maintainance on the engine and transmision to do, i also want to sand down the axles and drive terain and give them a fresh lick of paint.

you got to put some longtravel suspension on that thing ... nice work man
I also started my first set of silvia cooling panels. Im have another design in the works and looking to make them for $25-$40 or so for the set. The aluminum only cost me $5 from the metal yard so i my book that's a WIN.

I used a 18v cordless DeWalt jig saw also Righ handed and Straight WISS metal snips. I use to do allot of steel stud framing and HVAC sheet metal work. Snips are the way to go. Got to have all three Red = right / Grenn = Left / Yellow = Straight

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I finally got around to it since I lose shop access now that school is basically over. So that means no more tigging until I buy a decent welder -.-
I cloned a NISMO power brace tension rod bracket. Mine: This was the first thing I've really tigged that wasn't some small ass scrap sheet to practice on at school. I definitely need to get my technique down a bit more. It's a lot different getting into weird angles and such with the torch and working from less than optimal positions. My biggest issue with the entire thing was welding over the tack welds I made at my house with a fluxcore. As soon as I got the puddle to them, they started splattering like crazy. So you can see the areas that had some problems above. I did my best to keep it decent though. Thoughts and suggestions? |
