If it's a Type R, you're toast. If it's a GSR, you're still toast considering equal drivers...however, it would be a tad closer if with your i/e if his is stock. But if it's LS, RS, or GS, you'll be the one serving up breakfast.:)

Oh yeah, look at the wheels....5 lug: ITR, 4 lug: RS, LS, GS, or GS-R.

Correct. Also look for the V-Tec badge on whether it's a GSR or not. You'll definitely lose to a Type-R.

if he lets you, look under his hood. If the engine number says b18c1, then it is a gsr....if it says b18c5, then it is a type r....if it says b18a or b18b, then it is one of the lower levels of the integra.

Hey, guys, I saw a kid with a red neon, his seat tilted back to the trunk and a V8 sticker on the back. I wanted to ask him to let me take a pic and give me a lil' autograph, but there was no camera .

There is/was a Civic Type R and Accord Type R, but they were JDM only.
Anything like that in the states is a rice boy's toy. I'm looking at an Accord "EX-R" out my dorm room window right now...lol:)

I've gotten myself a new hobby: I will drive around and hunt down rice boys with a photo camera. Maybe we should all do that!

hmmm I wouldnt do it if I were you. I'd lose fiath in this great nation of ours.
Civic Type 'R' it was offered here I believe in the old old body style ~1991 in hatchback only. Japan had them since them, and they were always hatchs and NEVER autos. I'm not sure about the USDM 'R' I heard it along time ago. or maybe I have been brainwashed by the copius numbers of 116hp Type 'R' hatchbacks running around

There never was a USDM Civic Type R. The only Type R our shores have seen is the 'Teg. You've just seen to many rice boys.;)

Lol, yeah as far as I know "TypeR" was only original on Integras. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. There's also "riceboypage.com" for rice boy pics. But they haven't been updated in a while. I've got so many rice boys around my neighborhood, it's funny.

I have never seen a red type r. In fact, they don't exist, and if they do, not here. If it is a type r, and its red, its an aftermarket paint job.

Ive beaten alot of Vtec Integras, Ive only seen one Type-R that I actually thought might be for real, but it was in a parking lot so I didnt get to race him. I test drove 3 different Vtec Integras when I bought my 240sx, none of them even compared in that year '97. #### they were still using Honda parts bin crap in the interior, nothing like the S14. Now Im not saying that they arent a decent car, but the ones I test drove were stickered 2k higher than my 240 coupe, were slower, did not handle as well, were FWD, and the interior wasnt even close to being as nice as a 240sx. I also test drove the '97 preludes stickered at about 26k, it was a great feeling car, and great looking inside and out, and I would say very close in speed and handling, but it was 6-8k more money.. whoosh! Thats almost V8 Camaro SS money!

Ive also seen quite a few Civic SI wannabees out there.
But have yet to race the real thing. Thats another damned Honda mystery machine, everybody with their paint jobs and stickers you cant tell what is what. #### I saw one yesterday that I swear was fake, it had a different style spoiler, and had a huge pipe coming out the back. But it was painted that SI blue, said Vtec on the side and had the SI stamp on the back. After blowing by him a few times, pulling up next to him and letting my throttle open, even putting my windows down and looking over, he STILL would not go! He passed me once to act tough but he wouldnt race, which seems to confirm it was prolly a fake.

I wish these guys would get real and stop putting fake crap on there cars LOL its very annoying!

Not to call you a lier or anything, but it doesn't make sense that the 240 is faster than a GS-R...not to mention almost everybody that tests cars has the GS-R a good 3-5 tenths faster. We have about 30 lb. ft. of torque on them, but the GS-R has 15 more hp and is about 150lbs. lighter.

No offense taken Lance. Like I said, stickers are stickers and there are alot of fakes out there. It is often hard to tell what is what on Acuras and Hondas.
But I will say this, Ive beaten quite a few cars out there that if you look at the numbers, there is no way I should have won, but I did.

Quick question, are all the Vtec integras GS-R?
Because I see alot of Hondas and Acuras with the Vtec badge. #### my buddies 2001 Accord has a Vtec in it and it is slower than my wifes Altima hehe, I made him race me after he bragged his car was fast
So maybe alot of what I am racing out there are just regular Integras with Vtec badges? I really dont know the answer, but the drivers seem to think they are gonna win when they pull up so I am assuming they wouldnt be racing if they know there stuff isnt real. I swear im gonna start bringing a poloroid when I drive around lookin' for trouble, but on the other hand I think that is kinda silly.

Maybe you are right Lance, maybe they arent the GS-R, but they definitly read Vtec, so it is possible I am confused. But I will definitly be looking for that GS-R badge from now on and Ill post my results

Yeah, I have been wondering that. I keep hearing that the 240 is faster, but it doesnt seem right. Does anyone have the official #'s, not just a story of how you beat one the other night.(cuz you never know what the #### it REALLY was with all those miss badged hondas out there)

Most place have the 240 running around 15.9-16.1 and the GS-R around 15.6-15.8. Not a huge difference...but with equal drivers the GS-R should win. If you're only winning by a little bit and they are GS-R's, then maybe they just can't drive as good as you.:) I know of a guy that beat a new WRX, or so he said, in a GS-R...but at least he acknowleged that the other dude must not have known how to drive.
The only way you can tell a GS-R from the non-VTEC LS, RS, and GS is a GS-R has a "VTEC DOHC" sticker on the bottom towards the front of the door and I think a badge with the same thing on the rear. I don't think any of the 'Tegs besides the ITR have any factory model designation badges on them.
There's also different kinds of VTEC. The GS-R, ITR, and Si's VTEC is more sport oriented and the cam lobe switch can actually be felt b/c it causes the power curve to shoot up. Accord's VTEC is more for practicality and fuel economy...the cam lobe switch can't be felt b/c it simply lineates the power curve to prevent power drop off in higher rpm.

I'm pretty sure that the only vtec integras are the gsr and the type r. And i can say from experience (my friend has a suped up 99 prelude) that the vtec makes a big difference up in the high rpm ranges, so it makes sense that a stock gsr would beat a 240. All things being equal including the driver.

I'll add: GS-R has a "DOHC vtec" badge on the pass. side just below the trunk (no side stickers since the '93). GSR and ITR are only Integras w/ VTEC. I've seen more of these removed than added though. Civic Si gets "Si" badge in same location and DOHC VTEC sticker on the side. ITR is 5 lug (badges can't be trusted on those). Ludes are a whole other story, but seem to run b/n a GS-R and an Si. Best way to tell you competitor is to listen for a loud intake honk (that's the vtec noise, not the cam switchover) when the system opens up - non-vtec Hondas don't sound like this. As for racing, ITR will eat a 240 whole, GSR will chew it up, and Si may choke. Lance's numbers are about right, but remember that Hondas get faster after 20K mi. Also, the 240 does well early, but gets in trouble at speed when that torque advantage is eroded by the higher geared Hondas.

I will add that I have driven in and against ITRs - they are seriously fast cars and I think w/ the basic bolt-ons you couldn't beat someone in an ITR that knew no more about driving than "rev to fuel cut off, up-shift." They are that much faster.
