difference between exedy oem vs stage1 clutch
I did google searched about physical difference between oem exedy clutch vs stage 1 exedy clutch. Pics look similar in appearance.
How can you tell if it is an oem or stage 1 exedy clutch? |

they're the same. Exedy stage 1 is equivalent to oem. i found that out in a unpleasant way. I had it shipped from Philly to San Francisco. I was like this is too tame. So, i bought a ACT stage 2.

guys, thanks very much for the input.
I just called Exedy this morning and according to technical support, stage 1 has a white letter and # combo stamped on the disc that starts with the letter U. Stage 1 has the pressure plate in shiny stainless appearance while the oem one is dull gray in color. Also, he said there is difference in spring rate of the clutch plate itself. So I guess, I have to just stick to it. |
