Hey man, LOVE your progress.
Just wondering why you used the 26 head instead of the 25. Is it so the ITBs would bolt up easier? And did you say it was a non VCT RB25DE you got the block from? What car did it come from? If I recall correctly only R32's came out with the non VCT RB25DE. Keep up the good work. |

Zero Power...cars broken down and parted out a couple months ago. Another set of our friends bought the car and was planning on putting in an RB25DET in it. But last time I checked, looked like the changed their mind and they were trying to sell the car rolling chassis and the RB25DET (not installed) for sale. |

na motor
awesome thread..i would imagine power to be somewhere around 215-220 at wheels with rb26 head...i have na rb25 with itbs and headers it put 191 to wheels on pump gas in my 71 skyline the motor runs good but def could use more compression or rb30 block ,,,i said f&^% it i am going turbo now...but do love the sound of those itbs..

I bought the head from Matt a while back for the first RB i was building. When he joined in on Krome, we decided on the same build, so he picked up the 25 and put the head on it. None of the parts were extra(except the harness pieces) the rest was bought for the build. We used the 26 head for the smaller combustion chamber and so the itbs would bolt up. The 25 is non vct from an r32. Power- id say 2000gt's estimate would be more promising. We were estimating it might be somewhere around a stock sr20det. But since he already has a similar setup, I'd say what he said. Ray, you are right about the rest though. I traded/gave the car to skrappy, they put the 25det in it and sold it to graff. He's deployed right now, so it won't be making smoke for a while. The engine is with Matt, torn down, once he gets back to the states, he's building it up again. I have 90% of the parts to build a second one. Once my stuff gets here, I'll slowly be building another also. But the other projects come first now.

Just wanted to share pics of the teardown on this motor:
Ready for teardown Some mud in the intake This thing was dirty Water in the sparkplug holes High comp slugs out ready for shipping Slight scouring in #4 from dirt, not deep enough to need boring Its future home, well the one on the right |

BTW Kris, Graff got the DET running in Krome and he still has yet to finish it though. I will be suprised if he ever gets it rolling. I dont think he has brakes for it either.

Just thought I might update this. I was here posting on the classifieds and I noticed this thread.
This engine now resides in a 240z in the US and has been updated a little. The car build is over on HybridZ here: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/1077...0z-rb25de-itb/ Anyway, its a blast to drive, just needs more power. Last edited by winstonusmc; 06-08-2017 at 07:55 PM.. |
