rb26dett turbo to sr upgrade

hey guys i have a question
there is this guy that is selling a rb26dett turbos
for 250

and he told it would be a better upgrade than the t28 i have in my s14 sr20
because each single turbo could handle 400hp
instead of the 300hp from the stock sr
i want to know if this true
thank you

Quick search tells me that the RB26 had T28 turbos on it. The R34 RB26 had ball bearing turbos as opposed to the journal bearing ones in previous versions. Chances are pretty good it won't be able to make anymore power then your current turbo but I'll leave that to someone who has more knowledge about the RB26.

Just a quick thought though. If the RB26 had twin turbos that means each turbo was being powered by 1.3l each... Going to say stick with your current turbo.

+1

Yah it sounds like he is just trying make a sale to get rid of them. I'd stick with your current turbo.

You are correct on a few things.

the RB26 came with "T25" Sized turbo's. Only the N1 Version came with "Bigger" turbos.

Still wouldnt rock a single 26 turbo on an SR due to the small exhaust housing, you would probably hit max boost at 2K rpms

Not to mention the exhaust wheel is ceramic and will snap off if over boosted.

But Def not an Upgrade over a SR T28

Get the Part Number off the turbo's and maybe Ill buy them
