Don't know If this belongs here but its for the chassis of the s13 and i gotta know

What are people using for there bar front ends and bash bars I'm looking to get into welding and I'm gonna do a tubed/bar front end on my s13 should I get MIG or tig or jb weld? Jk on the last one

What voltage and amperage is suited for steel tubing

What's the thickness limit on the welder your using?

I want to get a REAL PERSONS INPUT before jumping into this cluster

And last question what's the best welder for the buck

Another thing to consider is the local vo-tech school for basic welding classes. Not expensive and a lifelong skill.

Lincoln electric 3200hd 500$ for everything. Face shield, welder (gun and ground) small spool of wire and air hose for the tank, just supply your self with a tank and your set. I have welded some pretty thick steel with mine. Done a cage with it and its decently portable. Runs 120v. For best results don't use an extension cord and use an outlet close to the breaker.

Get a tig welder 220v 250amps make sure any welder you get has atleast 60-80% duty cycle, if not a tig get a mig around the same specs

Depending on exactly what you want to do all depends. A TIG would be the best if you plan on doing any major fab. And or alum work. TIG welders have much better heat control and do a range of metals. A MIG does just steels. 220v welders are best, but 120v you can use at your house with out wiring in a a 2pole breaker. As I said before in my previous post my 3200hd does wonders for anything you would need do to with steel work for a car. I also have a Miller syncro 200 tig 240v welder but that cost $3000.

Mig is much easier to uses. Tig requires good hand eye foot coordination. Both hands are moving one with the torch, the other with the filler, then foot to control heat.

A good welder and the proper welder may cost a pretty penny but will come in handy and will also save you a good chunk of change. I replicated a full race manifold for my sr with hx35 and did it for a total cost of 400$ vs a 1500 manifold. Along with a downpipe and custom mid mount IC. So fab work alone on the mani, downpipe and IC set up I probably cover my welder vs buying it all or having a shop do it all.

hobart 210, if you are asking what welder you do not need a tig. At the moment I have a hobart mig, tig and plasma cutter could not ask for a better value. You can not go wrong with the 210, it is 220v.

If you have 240v power where ever you plan on using this go with a 240v welder if not then 120v will do what ever you need.

Like I said before the Lincoln Electric 3200HD has done everything I wanted it was $500 with 3 year warranty. I have welded diffs a full cage in my 240 with it made a press too.

Best brand I prefer Miller but there cheapest mig is $800.

The type of power you have avaible and price range and what you plan on using it for could help me answer this easier.
