SC300/400 -- jzz30 thread
i'm kind of getting bored with 240's, having owned like 5 so far.
so i'm looking into getting one of these sc300's, i might trade my s13 for a manual 92. anyone have any special things that i should look before? besides the obvious leaks/rust/noises/etc. any experience/tips/input/flaming will be appreciated. here's some pics to help the thread |

but dude it might be hard to find an decent sc300 for an s13.. unless yours has some good money into it. but there motors run strong and the torque is nice. but yeah an manual would be hard to find. but you can find a 2jz-ge 5 speed for cheap.

love sc300s.
Just too heavy and I am almost done with my 240 finally so no point in starting another project. Finding one with black interior is hard, dash lights go out on almost all of them, cracked leather, etc.

i'd absolutely love a gs300, if they came manual.
and apparently a manual swap in them is a huge pain. what changes will i see going from a 2700lb s13 to a 3500lb sc? |

i have a 92 5 speed, and some common problems are the cluster needles going dim or flickering, some gauges don't work from time to time, its usually the cluster itself, another problem they have are the climate control lighting goes out. Check out Club Lexus they are pretty legit...
old pic... now it's lowered on supra springs and shocks and has a custom cat back

I had a 95 Sc300 black interior renissance red. i loved that thing.
Pros Its very safe, doors are like very thick, the front end is strong, and it has rigidity. Reliable, its a dam toyota motor for god sake. very comfy rides nice. it had the cooldest ac. Cons parts for it are expensive leather cracks easily the door mechanisms fail often leaving you locked out if both of them fail guage needles go out, but are easy to replace with leds climate control backlight goes out hard to find in manual transmission power steering hoses leak and are preety pricey to fix over all its a good car, but expect to spend a preety penny to fix it up...

I was looking into the Lexus SC's alot last year. I think I'd rather get the SC400 and do a 5spd swap on that. At least you'll have a leg up on all the other guys wanting to swap V8's into their cars... Seems like the 1UZ-FE doesn't get turbo'd much though. Supercharger + Nitrous might be the way to go.

yes mr. akaishi your sc is awesomely low.
how much fun was the motor swap? i'm guessing it's manual? and falkon that looks really good and i agree that the kits for these cars aren't too easy to distinguish between each manufacturer. imho these cars need a wing to not make it look so "slopey" Last edited by hailandkill; 04-20-2010 at 12:55 PM.. |

yeah risky d has nice cars, they can hold their ground and really represent the local drifting communities rather than pro cars that have money for any expense. but still, its not like they are the only group that has some skill |

These cars are heavy, but theres lots of sensible weight reduction mods you can do to get down to about 350Z weight or lighter... |

Just picked mine up about two weeks ago. 98, with black leather interior. Really wish they made the 98 sc300's in standard, but i can do that well down the road. Yeah the car is heavy, but it's so comfortable inside!
it's lowered on Tanabe Springs and KYB struts with supra TT wheels. Hate the wheels, but they'll do for now.

i have had two SC300s 5mt in the past. they are great cars
the only problem i had was the fuel pump ecu going out and the relay needed to be replaced. Otherwise, they were reliable cars. |
