compression test...
hey guys. im currently blowing a crap ton of white/blue smoke on deccel. i had th turbo off the other day and there was some shaft play in and out, but not up and down. did the compression test last night(and wow starter is about to go out) and here are the results.
1 cyl- 145 psi 2 cyl- 140 psi 3 cyl- 140 psi 4 cyl- 145 psi i tried reading googling around and got that numbers are supposed to be around 160?? so if you'all could tell me weather my numbers up there mean that i have bad rings?? or just a bad test? any help will be appreciated. thanks |

Thats not too bad
A brand new SR according to the FSM is 157psi Adverage is about 150 I got a friend whos is around 130-135 still runs and pulls hard More than likely is the turbos oil seals are shot Im sure if you pull the turbo off and check the exhaust side it would be oily. How does the Compressor side look? Clean or oily?

Yup, /thread, it's your turbo. Your motor's not too happy either, but it's aiight. It's not so much the number, as the variance between the cylinders, that'll kill ya - you want <10% variance (you've got much more than that, but that could just be how you measured).

Some up and down is acceptable, lots of in and out is bad. Thats how you know the bearings are done and with the oil in your compressor side, seals are done too.
