My first thread/Build

Hey guys, i just signed up here and ive been lurking for a while trying to learn some things. I just picked up a 92 s13 shell no motor no tranny just to sway out for $500. I used/still am into the Honda/Acura scene but i figured it was time for a change of scenery.

We picked up this car on Oct 2 and made this my winter project. Its missing something like the a/c controls, reservoirs, needs new fender...basically small things here and there. Im lining up a sway for this but i figured since this is my first nissan id start a build thread to show the progress and also for any comments and help from you guys.

I debating going with an SR20 or RB25. Seems like everyone has an sr20 but i dont know if the 25 is in my budget. The car is in rough shape. We got it with the 18' rims on it the power steering needs to be connected, the pass fender is messed up and there is some rust on the hatch..all in all nothing that cant be fixed with time. it was a FL car before so the undercarriage has no rust so i def lucked out

ON to the pics
Engine Bay

needs a new master cyl

We removed the whole interior damn need. Seats are out, all the panels, and the carpet. The carpet got washed and is getting dyed black, the panels have been painted black and the dash and headliner are gonna get covered in suede as well as the center console if we have enough left over. the floor panel, bay and trunk are gonna get prepped, primered, and painted flat black. the hood and engine bay is cleaned and degreased and i have to get some after pics of the bay

Carpet

i hope you put some type of adhesion promoter on those panels before you painted them. if not its gonna peel off.

i always use bulldog adhesion promoter when i paint plastics.

good job cleaning stuff up tho

headliner - yes
dash - no

the only suede material that will keep its color on a dash is alcantara.
anything else that you buy at a fabric store or some shit will fade.
if you do it black its gonna turn purple from the sun.

you should look into flocking
looks kinda like suede and you can get a diy kit for like 35 bucks
sand down your cracks, fill em with spot putty, sand smooth then flock,
it wont fade and it will add a nice touch

Kid your balls haven't even dropped yet. RB25 is godamned near the same HP/TQ as the SR20DET and is more of a headache to source parts for unless you have a wiring genius working on your car.

You're not old enough to call anyone a ricer while you're still in that phase.

so we finally were able to do some more work to the shell. we stripped the dash, and inside and applied some bedliner to the inside, where the backseats were and the trunk. the battery tray which rusted was cut out and the battery, i plan on relocating to the trunk. the doors/ headliner/ and center console compartment are being covered with suede and the dash gettting flocked sometime this week. more updates as they come

before demolition lol

before the bedliner

applying the bedliner

drying time

finish product

engine bay degreased and cleaned

battery tray

door panels for the suede

Being covered

final door

center console

This is kinda cool.

It started out looking like one of those threads where they just post up a piece of shit, and never come back.

The interior mods look tasteful and kinda baller - let me know if you want your upper engine harness tucked/loomed with Mil-spec loom and adhesive heat shrink - you're going to have to do the wiring conversion anyway, and it's cheaper to do it all at once. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
