I just looked through craigslist ads in my area....what a shame. People are asking 10K plus for stock cars with some crap kit and knock off wheels. All of them look like rice and i'm sure most are owned by ex honduuuuurr owners.

Well the thing is, i don't think many of them get sold for the asking price - of course i'm just speculating. The overpriced cars are the same ones i've seen months ago. But some idiot comes across a "drift taxed" 240 and buys it, then a friend of a friend of a friend hears about it, and everyone adds "drift tax" to their garbage can on wheels.

Good condition 240s are becoming rare, hence their worth. Can't afford it? than don't play, cars are an expensive hobby.
They have became a sought-after sports car in the last 10 years or so.

Good condition is understandable but a shitbox on wheels that goes for the same price as a good condition 240? How does one justify that? Its like me selling a someone a carton of milk for double the market value just because i scratched "premium grade milk" on the carton with a sharpie.

I remember looking for s13s 10 years ago and most of them were between 100-150k miles. nowadays, most of them on the market have like 200-220k+ miles. in the future, some of the surviving 240sx on the market will have rebuilt motors, but most of them are probably going to get junked/crushed.
Most of the 240sx on the road today need a lot of work and in another 5-10 years most of them will be complete projects and most people will be dissuaded to get into them. Not sure who would have the passion to drop $1,000+ to rebuild a motor plus more money on various maintenance items just to have a 240sx as a daily driver. Maybe some old guys might be willing to spend the money to do restorations for the nostalgia. |

Seen a lot of 240's last summer on CL for cheap here in NJ, the Bimmers are creeping up though, they are getting popular for drift.
I drive Starions, I'm bracing for the tax hike now because they are about to be put on blast once ppl see the Modified Mag streetcar shootout winner of RWD class and 3rd overall is this Starion. 1988 Chrysler Conquest TSI - Built, Not Bought - Modified Magazine |

This thread is like clockwork, one every month. Get used to the high prices, its not drift tax, its following the same exact principle as the 510, 240z, ae86, why the fuck is this so hard to understand?

Smoking dope man. Starquests are never going to be popular because they are rare and there is no aftermarket. Having a LS1 swapped, 350Z interiored Starquest featured in an irrelevant magazine is meaningless. If kids would only realize the money they spend swapping motors and buying body kits could have been better spent on Mustang and Camaro suspension. |

As for Convette's car, that interior is one-off fabricated, not a 350Z, like it or leave it. The article is for reference, but you'll see it in the Ultimate Streetcar Challenge. Plenty of Mustangs and Camaros out there, if that's what you really want... but who does? |
