/\/\/\ those things always looked fun but I never had a chance to try em. My snowboard gear was expensive enough I never wanted to spend the $ on other gear.

I tried Ski Blades when they came out during my rollerblading prime. Shit was boring as hell. Snowboarding is way more fun to me. It was just like skiing to me.

i like them much better because i couldnt snowboard for shit, i spent like an entire weekend on a snowboard and couldnt shred down the mountain, so i found that these are much more of my style and i could keep up with my friends on the freestyles

picked it up a couple years ago (yes started when i was 22 lol) and loved it. did a deployment in gtmo bay and they just put in a really really decent park. i spent literally everyday for four months skating. went from barely able to stand to dropping in, some grinds, 180's. nothing big but def progressed. i stopped when i got back (i had cars again) but have been meaning to pick it up. in the summer i plan on skating again. i don't have an actual pic (i'm at work) but here are mine
once i burned through the shitty wheels it came with i've been running bhc wheels. damn, i'm def going to start again LOL. this thread motivated me. |

i just typed up a bunch of shit, but i refreshed the page and lost it all.....shit
my first pair of skates were rollerblade boxcar. no grindplates, and they came with a brake. lol! 2nd pair were K2 backyards. i'm surprised i never broke an ankle or anything wearing those. there was absolutely no support in those damn things. third pair were Oxygen Argon 1.1's. the sickest skates ever made IMO. mom tossed them out when we moved again though, i was not happy with her.. a couple years ago i picked up a cheap set of razors similar to what the OP posted. although i cannot remember the model name. i was never any good, but i always had fun. these are not very old, and again, nothing spectacular. just me getting off my ass and doing something. lol, found an older one. i could always unity anything. that's the only grind i could hit 100% of the time for some reason. but like others, there was about an 11 year gap between when i was serious about it and that last picture was taken.

Seriously. Deshi was not even a company even when I stopped skating.
Lucky7 those first couple of pics look like there is no actual ledge but just a flat surface with a thin concrete strip the same height as the grass. It took me awhile to realize what was going on haha

Jesus I was gonna say. Everyone thought Ashton was in that movie. I'm only 23 I know the biggest stars in that movie now are Seth green and jack black. Anyone remember the roces vert skates? The ones with metal chassis? Yeah my first blades that were meant for aggressive inline. Now I have some Kevin gillan USD

jon julio was my fav, back in like '95. my first pair of skates, as i mentioned before were i believe the FIRST pair of "aggressive" inline skates. Rollerblade Boxcars. if you look closely, they came with a brake still back then. i don't think they even had grind plates. you had to add grindplates and the little wheels.
then K2 backyard bobs. then i got the baddest ass skates ever. haha. Oxygen 1.1's. they were super heavy, but they were sick. i had friends with other K2's, Roces Majestic 12's, solomans, RB chocolates, etc.

oh, and the new "tuck your fruity ass skinny jeans into your skates" shit is lame as shit.
the old school style was much, much cooler. big ass baggy pants, lol. i think Arlo Eisenburg was the only fruit that wore straight leg jeans. memories.

Even though I never skate anymore, this thread inspired me to waste money.
Just ordered this frame/wheel/bearing combo deal. And these. Originally I was just going to buy the frames because I wanted them in black, and possibly refresh my skates with some new parts, but I got carried away. Somehow I always end up with black/red things. The original (prehistoric pre-UFS) Classic Thrones were my favorite skates I ever had. I wonder how I will like these new updated ones. Now I am excited to go out and goof around again. Last edited by Matej; 01-27-2011 at 06:27 PM.. |
