So, anybody here still blade/beginning to blade/blade at all/do trendy things so only blade when it is trendy.

Figured we could have a nice little discussion.

Had these for a long time:

Just got these:

I used to froot boot a while ago. I had a few sets of Remz. Man I loved those skates. They lasted forever. The only real reason I bought new ones was because of various sales.

I've poked in a few old forums and man the industry is a lot smaller then I remember it. But it was nice to see the pros I grew up with are still killing it.

That's my cool life story bro.

i always used to wonder why people called it froot booting. i went through a few pairs of missions back when they were hot, but i mostly just played hockey and me and my friends would hit little shit on the way home, nothing crazy.

It was a big part of my life from about the 4th grade until the end of high school. Those were my happiest years.
Sadly I do not really do it much anymore, but I still try to support it.

heck yes, i still roll whenever possible.
i bought a pair of haffey 2.0 last spring from my good friend juan at inlinewarehouse and have been diggin em ever since.
been rolling since '95 and still love doin it.
i've heard all the gay jokes, apparently skateboarders have a short memory and can't recall just a few years ago when all the wrestlers and football players used to clown on them for being "gay" for skateboarding.

and now one of my favorite recent clips

Damn, it's been forever. I used to have a pair of Senates and went everywhere on mine when I lived in Michigan. Nice and flat. Moved back to Pittsburgh, and went back to bmx as it wasn't really a way to get around where I lived with the shit roads/sidewalks and hills. Is it still big like it was like 10 years ago?

HOLY SHIT! I had no idea people roller-bladed here. Here are some pics from a couple of years ago. I havent skated in ages! I skated a lot of street but towards the end all I did was skate park since I worked at a skatepark. Used to skate with a crew called U.R.S., the most famous being Rachard Johnson and Shawn and Rick Rodriguez.

I'm gonna show my age here lol. I used to blade way back in the day. Before that movie came out with a very young Ashton cutcher as a rich boy rollerblader. Seth green was in it too. We used to tear it up for hrs at the old construction sites and some of the strip malls. That was before they cared if you skated their rails or not.
Oh and when sports authority actually carried real rollerblades and not that toys r us quality shit.

Allow me to show my age, and my ability to do research.

Ashton Kutcher's first movie role was in 1999.

A rollerblading movie from "back in the day" with Seth Green in it, would be "Airborne", which came out 6 years earlier in 1993.

Airborne (1993) - IMDb

Fun movie, nothing as horrible as an Ashton Kutcher film.

Damn, I haven't rollerbladed in forever.

I tried to pick it up after I wrecked myself too bad BMX'ing as a kid.
I never got far though.

Hell, I still remember when I stepped up my "blades" to ABEC 3s and outran my friends everywhere.

Yeah, alot of people still mad that Salomon ditched the scene when things got tough. K2 kind of did the same, but now they are making new stuff again. I am sure it has to do with the scene growing again.

I hear many people say Remz are the best. That softboot is crazy good feeling. I don't think I am quite good enough yet to step into Remz though, alot of people say they are a adv.-pro skate do to the fact that they have so much flex it doesn't teach you proper form on certain things.

I remember those days. Got my first pair of Rollerblade aggressive skates from them, WAY back when. They sold out when the scene got tough, like so many did.

I was kind of the same, use to just love rolling on the street, and the park only sometimes. Now I am more and more inclined to go to the park, with so many parks around now. I still love street skating, but the park has a lot of great advantages.

The industry seems to be on an upswing again. I really don't care, I always stuck by it because it was fun. It does seem to be building again, and I am happy for that.

It is crazy for me to see some of the old "Daily Bread" magazines featuring "up and comers" who are now pros. I was breezing a Daily Bread issue from ~2003/2004 I found the other day, and it was so awesome to see some of the names in it.

Anybody else ever read Daily Bread? Wish they were still around.

Both Rollerblade and K2 have come out with new skates in the last year. K2 brought the Varsity out, looks clean, had my interest for a while. Rollerblade brought out a TON of new skates, super strong lineup.

All I have ever owned were Rollerblades up until this new pair of razors I bought. I always thought they were the best to me. Their new line-up is sick too, especially with the new 72mm wheel technology they started using. Their switch frames have HUGE plates and look amazing. I was really 50/50 on continuing buying Rollerblade, or trying the Razors. The Razors had too many cool features to pass up on though, and they are so incredibly light. Though I never thought I would buy Razors, I am slowly warming up to these. They are outstanding. They come with arguably the best frames on the market - featherlight 2's, and are rediculously comfy.

Funny I had a crazy large stack that I got rid of when I moved I had a subscription for a few years. I still have a bunch of DVD's (Even tth whole set of IMYTA HAHA).

I gave up the ghost to ride BMX (which is starting to kill my lower back). I still have a soft spot for skating and I give the kids at my local park props whenever I'm around (I ride street).

Anyone remember VideoGroove?

When I got into rollerblading I remember the XGames and there was that chick Fabiola DeSilva as well as the Yasutoko Family. Haha what a long ass time ago.

Dude drift Silvia I respect you because you skate flat (I hope you still do) I feel like flat is the only way to properly blade because it makes you bend your knees and adds style versus people skating anti or freestyle.

Daily Bread died out but there's still Be-Mag and ONE, Daily Bread was basically a bible.

Anyone remember Rejects mag? Probably the best rollerblading media, DVDs with every print mag.

Still have these today.

My first skates ever were some Roces recreational skates. When I outgrew them my parents bought me the original Roces Majestics, and I was hooked. From then on I went through various brands, but I always seemed to come back to USD Thrones, especially the Classic ones though.
