NJ Collector Car Registration

I am looking into getting collector car registration so I can avoid getting my car inspected. Has anyone in NJ tried to do this? I see the only hard part is proving that a 1993 240sx is rare.

Here are the qualifications:
The vehicle must be registered in the State of New Jersey.
The vehicle must be less than 25 years old to qualify for Collector Vehicle Status.
The vehicle must have been manufactured in limited supply or there must be evidence that the model is currently in limited quantity.
The vehicle must maintain an operable odometer.
The vehicle’s chassis cannot be altered: High/low rise chassis are examples of altered chassis.
The vehicle cannot be a kit or replica vehicle, or be identified as a reconstructed vehicle.
The vehicle is not qualified as a street rod as provided in N.J.S.A. 39:3-27.27.
Collector Vehicles are subject to all applicable equipment requirements for year of manufacture and although not subject to inspection, they may be issued a summons for equipment violations if the required equipment is not maintained.

For the Application:
All applicants must submit evidence from either the manufacturer, a recognized car club (on letterhead) or collector organization that the vehicle applying for Collector Vehicle Status was issued in a limited edition quantity or that a limited quantity of the original production run remains.

True..that probably what I'm gonna do but it would be nice to not have to worry about inspection at all.

S13 coupes were not a limited edition car. Convertibles were, so they might be able to be classified this way, but coupes most definitely were not.

It literally would be more of a hassle to get that stupid registration than to just pay someone 100 bucks every 2 years for a sticker.

Like he said.

I am getting my sticker from a private station but its proved to be a pain in the rear to find a place. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever tried this. Some years of 240 have pretty low production numbers so it might be possible.

Production Numbers
All models (including convertibles):
1989 - 68118
1990 - 60582
1991 - 34534
1992 - 27033
1993 - 21471
1994 - 1391
1995 - 25114
1996 - 7334
1997 - 3655
1998 - 1232

Total cars produced from 1989 to 1998: 251410

Convertibles only:
1992 - 2327
1993 - 4602
1994 - 1391
