well, the backside of Big Bear runs through there and the upper desert IS well above sea level so the "hill" in hillbillies hold true. Plus, there's a LOT of meth production in those trailers out in the middle of the desert, which pretty much sums up the definition of the word hillbillies.

I watched something on the History Channel, they did a segment on the moonshiners.

I found out that one of my relatives got into a confrontation with a US marshal over moonshine, then shot and killed him. He went on the run for like 4 years until he was tracked down and shot 16 times. Survived and spend 2 years in jail, he was then released as a free man.
