SR20 narrow/wideband
Just installed a new turbo outlet pipe on my sr, and the o2 sensor bung is a different size from the oem o2 sensor. Is there an updated o2 sensor that I need to purchase in order to reinstall my o2 sensor? I currently have an adapter in there to get my sensor in there, but i know that there has to be a better way.

Different Ecu's used different O2 sensors. Google it. Plenty will come up on the whats what.
You can leave your adapter in there. It will be fine. Or, have the correct bung welded in. I dont know if you can re-pin the sensors to match your (hehe) bung hole. |

"better way"
Just switch to the regular size O2 sensor. You must have an old thin unit. Any regular size sensor will work, even 1-wire, 2wire,3wire, 4wire sensors all work the same. |

I mean. I dont ever pin anything. I just cut the ends off and use the wires I need (Solder and heat shrink, and a metal-solderable crimp if necessary).
factory ECU only looks for 1 wire. So if you bought a 4-wire sensor, you would identify that 1 single signal wire and wire it directly to the ecu's signal input. The other 3 wires on a 4-wire narrowband are for heater, and a redundant ground. which are not necessary but you could also hook them up. Or just buy a 1-wire sensor and ignore the missing 3. Or buy a 2-wire sensor andhook the black wire to ground (redundant ground) Or a 3-wire sensor and do (12v heater + ground heater) + signal &C &C |
