From what I hear yes. There mostly long lasting tires. So if your looking for more grip I'd look the other way.

why is my car so grippy
SET UP: -3.5 rear , -2.5 front camber 0 toe all around 6.5 caster welded sr w/ dying t28 rear tire 225/45-245/40 17s even in the rain i have to clutch kick to get the rear out, then mash on it or else it just grips right back up. So you can imagine the amount of grip i feel in the dry |

How's your clutch and how bad is your T28 dying? Also, have you tried 215/45s? When I had my SR and -2.5º of camber and 0 toe that's what I ran. I ran 225/45s once and I could spin them, it just wasn't as easy....although in the rain it didn't matter at all.
I mean, in the rain you should be able to kick out a KA with 245/40s no problem. Are you 110% sure your toe is 0 all around?

^yeah,. maybe try to bump up the pressure
ur camber is a little backwards too,......buuuuuuuut,. the way it is should be able to spin a little easier....lol even with a dead turbo, a sr should be able to kick out in the rain

THIS. there should be no reason you can't spin those. I ran 225 40 18's on my heavy gramlights and the KA. bone stock Sr's my fav was 245 40 17 with 50psi. That was a party. But if you are getting into 3rd gear...225's feel more predictable. Your clutch is probably going out. Or maybe your diff. Is it stock LSD? |

well at this moment i have 245/40 dz101 on for just rollin around around 40psi
but the last event i did back in dec, on 225/45 junkyard tires at 45-50 psi i still had some slight issues sliding out. i think some of it was my tune tho, i recently switched to Enthalpy rom and it has alot more low end trq. |

EDIT: Wow, fail on my part. Didn't see he had an Sr.
I'm still going to say he probably just needs some more speed though. Getting the car sideways with speed and simply maintaining wheelspin is easier than basically forcing the car to do a burnout and power over until you get a drift. Going faster takes balls and confidence though. I had somewhat of a similar issue at the last drift event I was at. My KA has always had a issue with low power after it has been running for a while, and I was having lots of trouble maintaining a drift. I'd have the throttle pinned to the floor and the car would slowly creep towards the inside of each turn until I had to straighten out. I was watching my GoPro footage later, and foudn out that I was entering the corners at 4k or so in second gear, clutch kick and turn in, and with the throttle pinned to the floor I would sit at 5k rpm. Halfway through the corner the car would just reach a speed where "5k" was no longer wheelspin, and I'd grip. Clutch kicking did nothing but cause a small tire chirp, but would not power over above 5k rpm. Having 205s on the front didn't help either. The little spurts of wheelspin I'd get weren't enough to overcome the front tires and I'd just have understeer through the rest of the corner. |

I run 215/45 | 225/45 17 on my N/A KA I run 37/55psi and it has just enough grip but not too much where I can't kick it out. Going to a 205/215 setup next for a little longer slides.

What alignment specs do you guys run?
I'm currently on: Front Camber = -2.0* Caster = 6.8* Toe = 0 Rear Camber = -1.2* Traction Rod Length = 8.125" (Need to remeasure RUCA and do some bump steer graphing) Toe = 0 Changes I would like to make judging from tire wear: Front Camber = -2.1* or -2.2* Caster = 6.7* or 6.6* (Less Camber roll to keep the Leading tire a little more flat. Self steer is still there.) Rear Camber = -1.25* (Just slightly more as I can see the wear touching the wear arrow on the shoulder)

you won't notice a improvement with adding 0.1 degrees of camber. I ran -4.5 on my s14 with stock KA. 225 40's at 50-55psi. fronts are always aroun 35. |

Basic Intake and 3" Header back. Probably putting down 140?
Upcoming upgrades are S13 Cams, N60 MAF, NIStune and a 4.375 Well the changes to the front will be done together so it might make an improvement it might not. I'm a picky bitch ![]()

It was more of a joke than trying to start a pissing contest lol. But a "stock" ka isn't really gonna dyno more than 120 on an average reading dyno. These cars came with 155 hp to the flywheel from the factory, once it makes its way through the drivetrain you loose quite a bit of power.
EDIT: Do you plan on running dual exhaust cams or just the stock S13 setup?

Truth.
But that's what he put down and cars that he keeps up with I have no problem with so I assume I'm in the 140 range. But judging from how well it can slide now, after those other bolt-ons I should have no problem holding sweepers. 3rd gear atleast. 4th, well that'll come another time lol.

I started out doing weight shifted clutch kicks..... then i began to combo after the clutch kick with some (what i thought to be) quick steering work, then after I realized that those could only go for so long while picking up to much speed from mashing the gas, I started to use the e-brake for my transfers every 2nd or third transfer.
I now (3 years later) use the flick to enter corners with a medium to long curve, sometimes paired with a clutch kick but usually just mash the throttle after the flick and then massage it. For the corners that are a little more technical and less dragged out, I'll go in hot then flick + ebrake to slow down and aim the car, it helps get the most angle for those tight corners where u can score big and it aims the car where you need it to be with great control of the angle. |
