Vlsd swap into 89 240sx
Ok I'm sorry if this has been covered 10,000,000x but I seriously need some help with this one.
A buddy of mine has a vlsd out of a 91 240sx, its not the whole diff just the LSD so there is no pumpkin. My 89 has a open diff and no abs, will this VLSD fit inside my pumpkin, because for 75$ I'm seriously wanting the Vlsd. I read in thread on here that its direct fit, but it did not specify if that was just the diff or the whole pumpkin. Thank you in advance and again sorry for the noob question. Jordan. |

Thats one hell of an expensive VLSD if it doesnt come with everything. Sold mine for $80 with the half shafts and diff. Normally what I see them go for. Often cheaper if without halfshafts.

Wow you guys are finding killer deals! Not many 240s here so maybe that's why it's more expensive. And thanks for the tip about the half shafts I will be sure to let him know I need those too. Also thanks for not flaming me over this I hounestly did try researching before I posted but couldn't come up with any definitive answers, so its much appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, you'll need VLSD half shafts since the open diff ones are the same length and the VLSD ones are different lengths.
So to answer your question, yes the VLSD will fit in your pumpkin. But you will still need VLSD half shafts to make it work since you can't use your open diff ones

Do you really think a 23yo, non serviceable VLSD is worth anything ? They work on internal oil thickness. No oil can keep its weight that long, meaning it has quite a lot of chances to work just like an open diff. save yourself the hassle and get an s15 torsen diff if you want a cheap LSD that works.
Just my 0.02 though but ... been there, done that. My vlsd would not lock anything after a couple of corners. Now i am using that torsen. |
