Only real excuse for choosing a wheel such as this is that some of us have a real budget, otherwise known as, a wife, child, and mortgage. Unless the true wheel this is modeled after (CCW LM) has a substantial weight/strength advantage, what other choice do we have for an 11" width wheel with that type offset. This would allow us penny-pincher guys who want a wide wheel to also be able to afford the wide tires to go with it.

I searched google and found someone talking about the 18x11 on XXR's facebook page, but I didn't see any pic or confirmation of this from the company.
The XXR/Rota/Varrstoen war continues I guess. Personally, I never liked the look of the original CCW mesh wheels. Not gonna like a rep any better. But the size is tempting. XXR has been pretty cognizant of the need to make their wheels lighter than they had been doing years ago, so these might not be too bad as far as knockoff replicas go... |

You want an 11" wheel. That means you need a bigger tire to fit it; Bigger tires cost more money. Bigger tires also mean you have bigger power; power isn't cheap. Which means your logic doesn't compute.

Sure thing man! Happy Belated birthday!
I shot XXR UK a message asking if we were gonna get these 18x11 531's in the US. Apparently, they released 18x11 522's and we never got them here... But I'm almost immediately more interested in this rumored 535 5 sopke design. I love 5 spokes! Hmmm... Another wheel we never got stateside... The 925. |

Not interested in stirring the pot, especially with those other members who have been around the community a long time such as myself, and I do agree there are times when genuine is a better choice than "replica" or "knock-off." I'd like to know the build quality, weight, and composition of XXR wheels to make a final decision before just writing them off. |

Im not in your shoes, don't have a wife, so I can't comment on your situation. As long as your happy with your choices, go ahead. I dont think XXR is that bad, at least not as bad as rota , i think XXR has some original designs, or at least changed alot from whatever they copied. It is just a cheap cast wheel, which can be heavy.

I'd rather buy the real Rota Grid than knock-off Volk TE37s any day. The Rotas are way more heavy, which means they have more metal making them stronger.
Duh.

Ugh. So let me get this straight: you guys hate knockoff wheels? But, you read Xxr in the thread title, saw it was a thread about something you didn't like; but yet, still had the urge to come in and drop your shitty two cents?
Well I guess when you "accidentally" go to the gay bar, you can use the same excuse you type in the reply to me.........

In the end, there will be a continued debate about real vs fake, genuine vs copy, etc, but for the most part, some of the big name parts are truly over-priced and you can get just as useful and well-built parts from others. Now, they may not share all the engineering design work, manufacturing processes, and same fit and finish, but take XXR wheels for example; as a company they either had to contract with one of the experienced wheel casting operations to have their wheels made, or they had to make the investment in CAD machines and designers, FEA analysis, manufacturing equip and tooling, etc. to get these to market. Their prices most likely reflect cheaper manufacturing processes, lower overhead, etc. Now does ANYONE have any info on availability of 18 in the various sizes/offsets? Any info from XXR themselves? |
