hi there, I have been checking out the forms for a while now and I have a few questions. I want a 95 240SX. I mainly plan to use it for drifting and drag racing. What would be the best combo of mods to get? Also what would be a better motor for this, a KA or a SR? Also what would a rebuild on a KA cost? Finally if i got a SR20DET what would i do if i had problems? would a local mechanic be able to fix it and would he be able to get the parts? thanks guy i know you will send me it the right direction...

I would personally suggest you get an SR motor. There is a shop that imports and works on them here, and they can also get parts for you from Japan. Your local mechanic cannot do any work on this machine, and it is also not street-legal. The reason why I suggest an SR is because well... KA was made to be Naturally Aspirated. Factory turbo is totally different.
When it comes to mods, it really depends on what you'll do with your car. What do you want? I wouldn't waste money on intake and exhaust until you know you're getting a turbo, because the components and performance parts will be completely different. Check zilvia.net, there is a section of stages and upgrades for S13s and S14s. Also, check Steve Millen motorsports. I'm sorry, but I really am not sure how much would a rebuild cost. I'm thinking somewhere around a grand when you're all done, but umm... I'm not sure <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>. One of the guys will post back lol . Good luck! Irena |
