ANY prediction that the clippers make the playoffs is bold, it has happened like twice in 30 years, total.

Miami will play 42 games this season against teams who will not make the playoffs, and happen to feature two players who LIVE to kill in the regular season -- one of which (Bosh) has literally never done ANYTHING in the post season ever -- so in my mind as I cooked up that post, that is enough to get them a #1 in the East, as the influence of those who only care about the look of things on the exterior will get them to the post season living high off the hog, but that is not enough to get them THROUGH the playoffs.
Again, assuming a clean bill of health and arrest records.

Iverson has a lifetime deal with Reebok, as long as he plays, he gets 4 (or 6, I forget which) million a year from them for remainder of his career.

I mean, let ESPN tell it, they've won it already and in such are worthy of 22.5 of the 24 hours of their news cycle, Brett Favre gets an hour and the NFL rule changes gets the last 30 minutes.

yeah i noticed that too phlip. they were talkin about numbers in Vegas and that the Heat are at 4-5 odds to win it. and the 2 time defending Lakers are next with 5-1. lol. people make me laugh.

Good game. Lots to work on for us. Wade was in bad shape. Good work on Defense. We need less turnovers, better timing and rhythm. I could see what they where trying to do on the offense, but it did not connect because of timing and communication. Arroyo GTFO the court. We need to have Wade or LBJ run the point. Or Miller can drive it up as he did in the pre-season when he's back. We'll see. Gotta play Big Z more. LBJ did his thing. Need just a tad more from Bosh. Good stuff from UD, House and James Jones, gotta keep that up. Lots of footage for the tape room. Hope to be improved for the Nov. 11 re-match. Up tomorrow against Philly. Glad the season is back in session.

Pretender: takes a summer in which they are touted as the best thing smoking, stinks it up and claims a 3-point loss as if it is some kind of moral victory, complete with built-in excuses.

You know for damned sure you wouldn’t do that if the Lakers – with no Bynum and Kobe still mending – had managed to NOT pull last night’s game out and you know it. Ric Flair said it best: “to be the man, you gotta BEAT the man, WHOOOOOOO!!!” and until Miami can take off the Eastern Conference champs, they are not the best.

I am actually almost embarrassed to admit that I am looking forward to the Clippers game tonight. Blake Griffin will be rookie of the year.

Don't worry, they'll probably be riding the Dwight-Howard-Orlando tip soon enough or something anyways, its what they do. I stopped taking ESPN seriously sometime around June when their "expert" NBA panelist where making the most moronic comments. Who lost by 3 points?

On the tweets, if you're referring to last week's incident, the two people who where "crying over mean tweets" actually had a good game.

Things will click, just a matter of time. I'll enjoy it watching it develop.

Actually, that reacharound started on 07/09 and has continued constantly.
3 points, 8 points, it was a loss. They're now on pace for 0-82 instead of 73-9.
If I am hearing rumblings of a 72-win season, I do not expect to see a loss on opening night. For a team to get that kinda publicity when they have won literally nothing is sickening. Especially when there is a sitting champion with 3 consecutive finals’ appearances on the docket.
But hey, ESPN created this monster, I guess they have no other choice but to feed it or it will eat them alive. For the sake of all involved, I hope Miami DOES get it together, but only enough to show off their glaring weaknesses at the 1 and 5 positions, as well as taking care of the ball better. The 14 turnovers between the best players on the roster is and will continue to be a PROBLEM, so much that they negate what was an otherwise good game by making it a loss. Has LeBron not had enough good games in the context of an L? I thought that was why he LEFT Cleveland?
Good thing they have Philly tonight, because Orlando is coming tomorrow and that kinda schedule at the very beginning of the season could prove to be a murderer’s row to start off a season.
Momentum is valuable, you have to know that, and stumbling out of the gate could prove costly to a team with EVERYTHING left to prove.

The LeBron commercial was meh. Heat will have time to get it together and finally mesh well, but no way are they have a 70+ win season. I'm guessing 55-65 wins.

Observations…

That ginger kid out in LA is a MONSTER and will win Rookie of the Year, provided he does not kill himself.
Monta Ellis can be forgiven for hoisting 24 shots by virtue of having made 18 of them in the context of a win, though it seems that NO defense was played in this game – Nellieball lives through.

Miami is on route to go 81-1 now, which is cool
BUT
Cleveland is on pace for the league’s first 82-0 record, with the tiebreak over Miami by virtue of having beaten a team that Miami did not.

This season BETTER damned well stay interesting if I am going to have to live without pro ball next season, lol
