2nd round of PDR done for the hail that we had here a while back.

Sorry for the potato photos.

Also thanks to Dinna180 again for sending me out this JDM number plate bracket for the back of my car. Absolute legend!

I have 4 days off from Tomorrow, so in these 4 days i really want to aim to have the whole car ready for paint. So that'll mean paint stripping, sanding and priming.

Day 1
Bonnet and JDM guards - paint strip and prime.

Love the sound of paint stripper when its working, sounds like something cooking on a BBQ. Smells like death but.

Water is needed to "Turn off" the paint stripper.

Good fun.

Doors got done too

I've come to the conclusion that i will get my engine bay sprayed at the same time as the car, so everything must go! Also going to throw an engine gasket kit + Brand new front cover/Oil pump too.

Got these aswell, the uber rare, semi pointless optional knee pads.

Haven't been up to much since the last update, literally had hardly any time for anything.

But acquired a couple more parts, and expecting a huge OEM engine based order to come in come next week, also found a 270R Nismo rear bumper so that'll be good when that comes.

Option Nissan Puretron air purifier

Brand new/old stock Nissan optional Emergency flashing light (Purple)

Took my N1 out to Wakefield Raceway for a practise day, so much fun.

Been a while since i've updated this, thread is still semi-broken, i'll get to fixing the rest of it soon.

Figured i'll paint the whole car at once, so the engine came out. Once i took the engine out, i tore it down to get it hot bath'd. Spoke to Brendan @ Pten Developments in NZ and bought every OEM rubber hose for it, ACL Bearings, OEM head bolts, OEM Gasket kit, Front cover/oil pump. Strongly recommend him for parts if you're building anything Nissan related.

Althought i didn't even need to do this, engine had no major problems to begin with. (Had a couple leaks though)

Before

After

The car must of have had a little shunt some time before, the beaver panel was pushed in a tiny bit, so i ordered a brand new panel. Lucky to have this as it was the very last one Nissan had in their inventory with no plans of making another batch.

Slight bog work on Drivers side 1/4 panel, will take this out and re-finish without Bog. Once thats done, it'll be a completely dentless, bogless S-Chassis.

Also completely destroyed my front windscreen getting it out, so have ordered a new one.

I was planning on going Kouki rear bar + Valances, but being a series 1, the sharp edges of the Kouki kit didn't really grow on me. So i sold them both and now have a genuine 270R rear bumper along with the 270R wing on the way, can't go wrong with OEM.

Brand new old stock Nismo floor mats for the N1

Also got a uber-rare first gen ARC oil cap, trail fitted on the N1, but will go on the S14 upon completing the engine!

More pics soon..

Haha nah, i had the opportunity about 2 years ago when i wrecked a VZR, had a basically free SR16VE head at my disposal, ended up piecing together what the rest of it would cost me and was just waay out of my price range for that time.. the head was the cheapest part, honestly.

Wish i had more time to get this done quicker, but loving where its at and where it's headed.

Genuine 270R wing and 270R Rear bumper (needs fibreglass to be fixed, yes its genuine Nismo)

Engine pics: Waiting on a couple annoying little parts that broke during disassembly (Timing chain tensioner bolt, TPS bolt). Replace all of the 12mm head bolts with new Zinc coated units, will do the same with 10mm and 14mm heads too, i think these little details really give the engine that new life look.

Half considering buying new both new coolant necks simply because they look so nice brand new, obviously. All intake manifold pipes are brand new OEM, will be ordering all new vacuum lines aswell soon.

Bought a Fenix aluminium radiator. Only opened the box to inspect.

And as always, have some more nice rare bits coming soon..

Got a decent order of parts coming for both the S14 and N1, meanwhile, i've acquired some more goodies.

Polished up both the coolant necks

Before and after of engine to heater hoses

Polished up the optional foot rest. Looks brand new!

Brand new Nismo 365a wheel setup with horn and boss attached. So happy to have this, always wanted a decent wheel to go in once its all finished. Not the rarest of the Nismo range, but decently rare to be in this condition.

I'm looking to get an ARC coil pack cover along with the super induction box eventually, when they pop up.

To do list:
Spot weld new beaver panel on
Repair fibreglass nismo rear bumper
Prepare side skirts, grille and front bumper for paint.
Organise 10mm and 14mm hex head bolts to dress up engine
Organise a new turbo (GT2871R???)
Buy a Nismo 1.5 LSD New?
Buy all door rubbers and top belt moulds.
Order Meister L1's, bronze gloss lip w/ bronze centre (on hold, awaiting proper wheel specs)
Send brake calipers away to get overhauled

Semi-Pointless post, i gotta stop buying optional parts.

First and most likely last OEM electric jack mechanism that i'll ever see.

Rocker cover came out perfect, exactly how i wanted it. Also shaved the letters back the metal.

If you ever want to sell any of those OEM bits (for whatever reason) consider me first in line.

I search various Japanese auction sights, Yahoo Japan being the best one IMO. It's just a matter of patience, really.

It'll be a while until i sell anything, i've had heaps of messages on here/facebook about making people "First in line" for things. If the day does come that i sell up, it'll most likely be a $0 reserve $1 eBay listing. I think that is the fairest way.

If you are trying to keep all the oem options specific to the S14, you gotta get a different puretron filter. I have dealership booklets with all the different options for the s14.

Yep, i know. The S14 had the air purifier on the parcel shelf. But because i have the 270R Nismo rear strut bar, i can't have this option. So i figured i'll just go with the older roof style, which is a direct bolt on.

Life has been pretty full on over the last 2 months, which is why there has been little to no update. Moved into my investment property, and ended up fully renovating it. Went on a holiday to Melbourne for a couple weeks.

But, do have some smallish updates.

Took my S14 to my old work to get the new beaver panel spot welded on, like factory, turned out amazing.

Random photos on how bare the shell is now.

Finally got a set of Ganador super mirrors and a first gen ARC super induction box, super happy with getting these. Box does need a very good polish though!

But the most exciting thing i got to see over the past couple of months, was the R34 GT-R Z-tune Build #001.

Got invited by a mate to go see this, along with other cars (R34 N1's, Old Porches etc). So stoked and so happy to get to see this car, especially if you love Nissan nearly as much as i do.

Been a while, still been super busy.

Paint time yet? No, just primer. Being 95% of the way there smells good, i but i just want to taste being finished.

Sent the turbo off to get rebuilt, because why not? Love that new turbo life.

Need to order all new fasteners for all around the car, 10mm being the most used, along with door rubbers and strip moulds.

Sorry if I missed it, but how did you take the car down to bare metal? Just a lot of sanding or did you end up using paint stripper for that, too.. Thanks! And car looks awesome! Cool to see an s14 being taken all the way down before being put back together

Duuuuude, it's such an expensive addiction, hey? I can't wait to get all the ARC gear, they are my favourite 90's JDM aftermarket brand! *Prays for coil pack cover to come up on Yahoojp*.

I used automotive paint stripper on everything. Much, much more efficient than sanding down each panel with multiple grades of sandpaper. Although - It is different to normal paint stripper you'd normally find at a house paint shop etc. Its a little pricey, its worth it. With the right preparation, it chews through pretty much every layer of paint leaving the nice bare metal finish that Nissan would've sprayed over. Thanks for the kind words!
