gt28rs dbb disco potato 350hp all day, no laggy spool
i wouldnt attempt 350hp on a godspeed turbo. it pronly wont last to long dont waste 250 bucks man you can get a solid garrett turbo for just a little more. dont waste ur time building around a godspeed turbo that you know will fail |

garrett gt28rs goes for $1k+...... and pretty sure they are limited around 300hp, to me the t25 housing would be too small. then again this is my first ka build. to me a turbo designed for a miata wouldnt suffice

i would go for the third turbo. with 2.4 litters and 9-1 comp. ratio, that would be a good all around choice. and yes, the disco potato or gt2860, is designed by a guy that was working at garret for his Miata.

I dont think godspeed has what your looking for. Here is a godspeed 60-1 on a rb25 I tuned.
![]() Now this is on a dyno dynamics so the hp reading is actually about right where your expecting. The thing was not an on/off switch when above the boost rpm threshold but spooled quick when it was above it but look at where the boost rpm threshold was..... This was also right around 20psi. I was not happy with it but the customer was and that is what he expected to see power wise. It held up as well and supposedly they are rebuildable and are reliable after that. I just would not be happy with that low of a number and that delayed of a spoolup regardless of the cost. I have spend 2x that trying to shave a couple hundred rpms off of a spoolup in the past. Hell, I spend more money than that on boost controllers. A good boost controller can slow down your spoolup if you want it to. |

exactly...
in other words, they are telling you they abused the fuk out of that turbo. it's probably no good and will needs a new CHRA soon. they even listed the part number for you, lol. that's the grey area for buying a used turbo- you dont know the history behind it, and the use of it. i went with a GSP 2871. They have come a long way from where they use to be. They order from JMTurbo, which is essentially a chinese company, but they at least have an office here in the US. It will suffice for my goals. It was either that, or buy a used 2871 for 500, off some random guy, who god knows what he did to it. Quote:
* Roughly 8,000 miles seems like to me she got her money's worth. specifically the drift/road events. pro-am drivers tear apart their motors so often that the threading on them becomes worn out and they end up needing a new motor. same concept. |

ball bearing turbo's are tough. you can inspect it, if both wheels do not touch either sides of the housing, it spins freely and the bearings don't sound screwed, you're probably good to go. ball bearing turbo's can take serious abuse IF they have a constant supply of oil.
if you buy it off ebay, and it is Crapped out, and the seller did not SPECIFICALLY specify that, you simply file a "not as described charge" and you will be refunded 100% of the cost. you are not at a total loss if you buy something on ebay and it ends up being a dud. |

ok guys, called and talked to a shop today, they took down my mods list and poof... he recommended a precision 5454e ball bearing shipped to my house for 659. sounds good to me, also said i should be in boost around 2600 rpms and make my goal around 15-17 psi.
im no expert by all means when it comes to reading the compressor flow charts yada yada but heres the specs on the 5454 MFS (Machined From Solid) 54mm Inducer Compressor Wheel "E" Compressor Cover with 3.0" Inlet & 2.0" Outlet 54mm Exducer Turbine Wheel T3 .63 A/R Turbine Housing with 4-Bolt Discharge 360 Journal Bearing System. hows this look? is the ka going to choke up top with this turbo? |

i`ve had a few turbocharged 2.4 litter engines and .63 a/r exhaust is what i always prefer. i`ve tried one size smaller and one size bigger and i always go back to the .63 a/r. that size will work really good up to around 6,500 rpms.
