Kouki KA-T Build Thread

***Please move to builds section, sorry for the inconvenience***

Well it has been a while since ive first purchased my 1997 240sx and I figured id post a semi proper build thread since my first post has made much more progress.

Well i picked this bad boy up in January of 2012 from a guy in Delaware for 4200 bucks. Stock SE, auto, non abs, 13X,XXX miles 2 owners ... pretty good condition... no rust. And the guy was planning to swap an s14 sr in it so that came home with me too. However upon inspection the SR head was missing all kinds of shit, and honestly wasnt wanting an SR anyway. So I ended up parting that out to help get my 5 speed swap and some coilovers and what i had left to start building a spare KA i had bought locally (ended up being total junk ). So with that said over many long nights, spending money left and right, and countless drunken stoopers heres where its at...

While waiting for some parts in the mail... i got parts in the mail!

So I started to order some parts here and there for the 5 Speed swap since the auto had to go... and plopped that in with the help of my buddy Jake Shoemaker and my buddy AK. Here's how she sat after all that...

Getting to work... (aka a random collection of events and images leading up to today)

Rods

Supertech Pistons

Poopy Fitment

Booty Hole

Interesting...

Interior Shot

Bought this stuff and then sold most of it other than some seals and gaskets lol

Blast Pipes (need to add 3.5" chrome slant tips this weekend)

"Clubloose Apparel" and my Autotimer

AK's Fully Built SR Zenki/Thee Garage

KDF Stuff

Stockpiling for shredding season

Morimoto Minis in place of stock projector (much better output imo)

Made some adjustments and got and alignment so she sits pretty...

Dope aristo from the FDR meet (SUPRLIFE)

Shoemakers S13 318rwhp SR

Spring Moves for some shredding with ^^^

Got my roof wing in the mail... so i casually put it on my dads corolla while picking it up from home...

Starting to test fit the kit...

Built motor home for final assembly...

Banishing the demon that put the car out of commission.... Guess that one day when smoke started pouring out of my front vents smelling like burning electrical will do that. Replaced every single harness in the thing.

Built Motor is in for first start and an idea of where im going...

More tomorrow if i have the time ... too tired.

Sorry... i guess i should have elaborated... but one of the cylinders was a little iffy after the bore and hone so it was junk a block i had already started to spend money on or buy a new one and do it all again... so I had the trouble cylinder sleeved instead of starting again. R & W has made multiple 700+ blocks for KA24DEs and he insists its his favorite motor next to the 4g63s. Hope that makes sense..

dut in theory you could "sleeve" any block...

Well we have been pretty much at a stand still for a bit. Hopefully selling off some extra bits i have laying around so i can start mocking up intercooler piping and mount up the turbo manifold and start getting her ready for boost. Also will start sanding for paint. Pics this weekend for sure. Got new pads and rotors i need to put on. As well as new struts to replace the blown ones from the craters in Pennsylvania's roads.

If you read, like ^^^^^ pointed out, you would have known the answer to this.

Anyways 550 cc injectors and some 5 ply elbows and reducers are being 2 day aired to my apt. So hopefully I can run my enthalpy tune for a bit... at least until I order my a gt30 and megasquirt around June or july.

you're going to want at least 740s for a ka-t (or any turbo 4 cylinder) if you want to make decent power.
Watch the enthlapy tune, scott was good but this current dude blows...
Had to remap several of those 'pro tuned' ecus for customers just to get the car drivable.

Thanks man ... I have done quite a bit of research before diving into the build. I got a set of precision 880cc top feeds fpr and rail that will be going in with a gt3071 once I get tired of the enthalpy tune and want real power. Also will be getting it dyno tuned by Steve at Psi Proformance when that time comes. Thanks though.
