sr20 compression testing
1. Warm up engine.
2. Turn ignition switch off. 3. Release fuel pressure (See How to Change Fuel Filter) 4. Remove all spark plugs. 5. Disconnect distributor center cable. 6. Attach a compression tester to No. 1 cylinder. 7. Depress accelerator pedal fully to keep throttle valve wide open. 8. Crank engine and record highest gauge indication. 9. Repeat the measurement on each cylinder as shown above. Note: Always use a fully charged battery to obtain specific engine revolution. i'm shopping around for a new motor and want to check the compression before buying. do these steps apply to the sr20? i know the sr is a bit different with its coil packs and whatnot. if compression testing on an sr is different can anyone point me in the right direction? all i could find were the FSM instructions as shown above. and also, regarding the US FSM, does step three just mean empty out the fuel and close up the bolt on the pan closed afterwards? this is my first time doing a compression test and i dont want to fuck anything up so i thought id ask the pros. flame away guys...
