Project Sohc: slowly but surely
Hello,
Name is Wes this is my very first build so before I start I should give you guys some brief history. although this is my first official build this isn't my first 240. Couple years ago i got my first car and my first 240sx. It was the 89 hatch with the sohc. sorry cell phone pictures for now. had it all stock for a little while then went through a ricer stage and thought I would modify it a tad bit. I was into the fog lights on the pignoses so I went all pro and put some on mnmmmmm dirty rims after that kept it and saved up my money for some coilovers. Got ahold of a guy who had brand new Ksport control pro coils and bought em immediatly only 850$ couldn't complain Then sad days happend. It had been raining for a while and i went out for a cruise and I hadn't been all to familiar with the non-abs so I was driving down a S shaped road and i hit the brakes.....it didn't stop coming up to a curb at 35mph and hit the curb on my driver side front tire. needless to say I bent the crap out of the FLCA so I thought it would be a easy fix just get the part. Nope Not my luck that night I had Bent the frame. found a guy out in texas who had a coupe shell who had a V8 swap in it it had everything interior wise in it and it also had the battery relocated with a cut off switch. This 89 coupe came with a uncracked dash which was pretty awesome in my opinion since my other one was held together from the previous owner with caulk. It also has energy bushings. Anyways, Got it towed back to Oklahoma and left it at my house for the night. The next day We went to work looking through all the stuff we had gotten. Theres to much stuff to post pictures of but there was ALOT bins and bins. Next day pulled everything interior out of the coupe. Started pulling the motor from the previous hatch to get ready for the new coupe. sorry for sideway pictures. damn phone day 1 day2 day3 once the motor was out we started taking it apart and getting it preped for a full rebuild kit since its the original motor with lots of mileage. Started ordering suspension parts since this will be a track car only. got the ISIS control arm package with circuit sport sway bar front and rear endlinks and I still had the coilovers. Not going to throw them on till I get the motor done. So we can tune it also bought myself a nice long tube header. rawwwr looks nice did a test fit. sorry crappy phone picture So thats about where I am at today. Going to be pulling the front and rear subframe from the hatch just to have spare parts. This is gunna be slow as I am currently waiting on parts to arrive. I am happy to see you putting the shell to good use. Dont hit anything while drifting, lol.
It actually still looks pretty clean in those images, but I guess you cant see the top.

Been a while since you guys got an update. Sorry no pictures just yet just a small update. anyways, Got the wiring harness removed from both the hatch and what ever was left of the coupe (harness had been cut from the front) and the hatch's harness is ready to be installed in the coupe. Going to go with circuit sport poly motor mounts and gotta get an exhaust gasket as well as intake manifold gasket. hatch is going to get gutted and sent off to the crusher
Then its throwing motor in putting on the Ksport kontrol pro coils and all arms and sway bar endlinks and off to my first Legit drift event with fresh sets of tires. Pics soon..... Ok been a while (sorry for long wait) But as promised here is a slight update So stripped down the hatch to nothing and sent it off to the crusher (Got a whopping 75.37$ for it) then started crackdown on getting the coupe finished. Had to replace the fuel lines due to the V8 setup previous owner had. sorry no pictures of it Motors in oh oh oh and got a new daily 1994 pignose vert Last edited by TwistnItSideways; 04-02-2013 at 12:24 PM.. |

Nah, it was already being built while i had a s10 as a daily but then I got tired of not driving a 240 so found the vert for 1100.
I would've changed the front bumper but to be honest I like the pignose over the chuki. another reason why I didn't go with the DE was for 1 the single cam was there. you don't see to many single cams here where I live so I wanted to be different. As far as the turbo go's I think I am only going single cam for about a year so I don't think I'll do a turbo anytime soon. All it has on it right now is a longtube header. If I decide to quit being broke I may do the turbo depending on if I need the extra boost. |

Welp here we go. So after a few orders from nissan I got the transmission and driveshaft bolted up and ready to go. had to replace fuel lines both in and out due to some leakage but here we go its picture time
motor started right up after 6months of sitting and waiting. got the timing done and now we start on suspension. Nothing like some good Ksport coils and some isis arms to make you smile. Front coils on as well as new isis tension rods Then it was on to the rear suspension changed out diffs with a plate welded diff sorry no pics of install but heres a pic of the rear suspension on as well as rear coils Ill take some more pictures soon. But the first event is on 4/20 (go figure) so we will ready for it. |
