Single cam KA ECU on a Dual cam KA....
How do I get a chipped single cam KA to work on a dual cam KA?
It's for a KA-T. I was talking to someone about it and he said to reclock the distributor.. but he didn't go into much detail. Any know how?

now why would you do this? because you have it laying around and want to use it...or is there any other benefits to it as compared to using the correct ecu...?

No, you can't use it on a DOHC.

because i got it for free.
it had the stock eprom chip. so i replaced it with a "chipped" one. Is there any reason as to why... Considering the ECU is chipped.

my car is an s14.
i got the conversion harness for s14 harness>s13 ecu Well, i already soldered the socket to the single cam ecu board. but i do have another spare s13 dual cam ecu but it DOES need a daughterboard. I kinda dont want to buy a daughterboard if theres a way to make it work. The other guy that was telling me how to do it, was pretty knowledgable, so i think there could be a way.

but here was his advice: Quote:
No point in spending more money if theres already a way to make it work and function correctly for free.

Well, I would imagine the ECU plug on the harness is different, and I forgot what else I was told lol.

If you have a dual cam motor and wish to run a single cam ecu you must
reclock the dizzy 25 degrees That doesn't make any sense at all.

Daughterboards already have the socket on 'em. I like the boards from PLMSdevelopments - but they're a little more expensive than the average daughterboard. Still not expensive in the grand scheme of things IMO.

Can you buy a board directly from them?
How much do they usually go for?

Theres one guy that has a sohc ecu running on his dohc s13 and he did reclock his distributor to get it running. Theres another guy who got it running on his s14 but still has issues with the distributor and crank angle sensor. He was running a map based code on the ecu with all sorts of cool things like launch control and 32x16 maps.
Im running the map based code right now but i have a sohc so its a lot easier. |

Old I know but hope with time something came to light on the subject.
I’m running a dual cam ecu on my ka24et and I need to reclock the distributor Any knowledge on this is greatly appreciated I understand the difference but don’t understand exactly what I’m suppose to clock from the ka24e 360 deg position into the ka24de 180 deg position the dual cam ecu is programmed for . Long shot but oh well Thanks |
