Test fit of the new power steering and alternator bracket mounted significantly lower and brackets literally a tenth of the weight. We'll most likely be reproducing these in the not too distant future in a slightly neater CNC fashion.
Sometimes its only the small things but we were really proud of how these turned out. Car will be the test dummy to ensure they're strong enough. Another angle of the manifold and gates. The new P12 cover. We need to weld threaded fittings onto it yet so it will have to be painted again the final colour is still being decided on. Shiny! Flywheel back on with new nissan flywheel bolts. Carefully tightening up the pressure plates before the final torque up. Very nice and compact! =) Much easier to refit the box to the motor out of the car rather than having to wrestle with it hitting the firewall and tunnel. Giving the old strutbrace a once over with the pistol polisher. Came up looking way better than it had done. More soon! |

I am trying to figure out if an Xtrail SR20VET will accept the Z32 mazworx adapter. I have tried emailing Mazworx but have had no luck.

With the sorts of power levels we're chasing we been told we'd need to upgrade from a 3" core to a 4" one so we started looking around. James ended up deciding on this one from Plasmaman Pro Series tube and fin range based on the proven results of other SR setups.
The whole Item is surprisingly light. Can still see the writing on the core from when the end tanks were made up for it. Intake tanks we taped up to help avoid contamination while we're working on it all. Lots of room for increased flow. Nice looking branded CNC plate on top. There is approx a 50mm gap below the front mount when run butted against the top radiator support. This will allow the radiator full air for that section hopefully helping slightly with water temps. Very neat fit should mount up how we'd hoped. More soon. |

We got a call from Heasman Steering to say the suspension had been finished and was ready to pickup. These have been in James car for a long time but we had all the seals rebuild before last years event. This time we've been able to upgrade to external canisters. Its the first time we've used them on any of our cars so we're excited to see how they go and work with Jono from Heasmans to get them set up. (if we make a practice day to do that!)
Didnt make it in time before the fronts were bolted in so I didnt get a chance to take any pictures of them all layed out neatly. So here is a picture of the rears in a dirty old box :P We're going to have to make some brackets that mount the front canisters up underneath the top rails. They should be out of the way here but also easy to access for adjustments. We've gone with SPL arms from JDM Obsession the local distributor it was just as cheap as importing them ourselves and with much less hassle. We will be replacing the rear arms with these where possible too but this will be last minute so no pics yet. The bolts in the caster arm are to suit the optional air ducts they make. They wont fit with our front wheels though so we'll have to make up some ducting later on for the brakes. Nice chunky rod ends look alot stronger than the ones we pulled out. JDM Obession also sell these very neat little swaybar links. We're binning our current whiteline ones which are abit hammered for a set of these. Still need to try find some that will suit the rear though. More soon |

So the wiring got underway first priority getting the car to starting state so we can check for problems/leaks like everyone seems to hit with a new setup. We'll leave the interior switches and all the dash stalks stuff till after for now just ECU talking to engine.
Dividing everything out before connectors went on. Funds have hit an all time low for obvious reasons so we're going to reuse James old radiator. It doesn't look the best after being in and out of the old setup with shroud a few times but will get the job done. =) Power steering lines plumbed back in. Heater hoses back in. Injector plugs going on. New ID2000's needed for E85 we plan to run. Mazworx fuel rail fitted up. More updates soon we've been so flat out on the car theres been no time for updates much this week. |

Bilsteins with Eibach springs is such a fantastic combo. I have a set on my STi and it never gets upset during bumpy corners, trail braking or torn in under heavy braking. The only other set I would consider better are JRZ for twice the cost. Looks fantastic gentlemen.

Some pictures Mazworx sent through of some motor stuff just prior to and during it all being assembled.
Custom made (to maxworx specs) 90mm CP pistons. Carillo rods layed out. A shitload of new OEM nissan gear ready to go back in. Bearings being measured up. We were interested to see more than just the one oiling hole here which is a standard setup. Crank and rods in. Shiny stuff. Can see the sleeves slightly protruding past the surface of the block. Clean, dont know how long it'll stay this way once its in! Kelford cams getting setup. More soon! |

With WTAC only weeks away we bit the bullet and decided we needed to out source some of the fabrication work or we had no hope of making it to the event. James had been talking to Hypertune after buying one of their throttle bodies for the car. After seeing some of their work first hand and the fact they could fit us in on short notice the choice was made easy. We dropped the car off on the Tuesday to be picked up by the weekend.
I turned up on Thursday afternoon to drop off the headlights as they may have effected where the cooler piping was able to run. Alot of the work had already been done so I grabbed some progress shots. We were really happy with the quality of work the speed of the job and how friendly all the guys were. Alloy shroud plate for the new radiator position doubles and an air guide. New massive K&N filter, ebay special. =) Hypertune T/B dummied up on new flange. The original mazworx one wasnt the best for our new setup. Intercooler piping also tacked up. New legs to mount the FMIC these sit the cooler tightly up against the top radiator support leaving us some clear radiator down the bottom to catch the full force of the highspeed air coming through. New power steering reservoir. 3.5inch stainless exhaust started. Can see the nice gap below the core here. More soon! |

I had the day off work the next day so I headed over to Hypertune again to get some further progress pics and talk about some parts for my own build. The guys were finishing off the exhaust when I got there I really wish I could TIG weld like this! =) Unfortunatly it was all up in the air on the hoist to do this so I didn't get any shots of the IC piping all finished.
Flex join in the base of the dump pipe. Vband everything so no gasket woes. Gates were yet to be plumbed back in which was the really tricky part. 3.5" straight off the turbo all the way back. New muffler should hopefully provide a nice deep note which isnt stupidly loud. Have our doubts about the volume though mainly cause of the sizing. More soon! |

great build!!
I have one suggestion. Fram is great for daily driving, for what your doing, I would switch it up with a Mobil 1 filter or something of higher quality. Also, I would suggest a Tomei oil block adapter, with a Greddy Relocation block and a custom oil cooler ( B&M 8x11" one maybe ) with -10 AN hose. just the last peice of added protection for the motor, and it should take away any stress of oil breakdown from high temps of track time. |

So the car was picked up on the Saturday morning and trailered back so the rest of the work could be undertaken. I couldnt be there when it was picked up as I'd gone in to checkout the lowdown showcased thing which was quite cool indeed. So excuse the iphone pics as thats all that James had before it was disassembled. We were really happy with Hypertunes work and were surprised to see how fast they were able to get everything done.
All plumbed up. Jimmy holding the dump pipe, looks like some sort of illegal substance apparatus. :P Pulled it all out to allow access for other jobs that needed doing. Also bought some Royal Purple run in oil recommended by Mazworx to run the engine in on. This stuff seems extortionately expensive for run in oil but it was decided for the extra money why risk it if thats what they suggested to use. After talking to Eric the reason they like it is the high zinc content. We cut the extra piece of the bracket of OEM off the VVL solenoids as its not needed anymore and just makes for less space in the engine bay and weight to have it. Link G4 Xtreme was the ecu of choice for James the plan is to run the car on a flex fuel setup in the future and this is capable of that as well as some other fancy stuff which we can get into later. James was eating a jam donut hence several sugar sprinkles whoops. :P New flange welded onto the Mazworx T/B by Hypertune. Different angle, matches up with the Mazworx welding well. The R33GTR calipers have had a very hard life which is only about to get harder. We thought we were having issues with a sticking caliper so it was decided to give them a fresh set of seals as a small kindness before what they'll have to endure soon. The fronts were looking pretty shabby before with several coats of paint so we had them soda blasted which brought them up like this. Looked new I might get this done to mine. We were tossing up if we should just leave them raw like this. New 2L Hypertune made catch can for the corner of the engine bay. Nice and neat/out of the way. Up in that corner its away from all the turbo heat and allows reasonably short piping to it. More soon! |

Regardless we'll be running the same dump pipe setup on the street as a weekend car so its not an option. |

Once all the fab work Hypertune had done for us was stripped out along with the turbo the wiring work and plumbing for everything got back under way.
Still looks like a shit fight in here but the car wiring wise was getting close to having the essentials done for a first start. ECU not in the car here but you can see the bracket on the left here where it will be mounted. Solenoid block mounted up on the Mazworx bracket here. James is still running the standard heater box and core so its a bit busy on this side of the motor still. New braided clutch line in now too. Closeup. When James purchased the plenum we ordered it with an S14/15 IACV flange on it. (you can order it with either 13 or 14/15) The 14/15 ones are much cheaper than the S13 valves to buy for some reason so this worked out well. O-ring seals, vacuum fittings, Hypertune T/B and IACV bolted up ready for the final fit up. Also note Jimmy modelling the awesomeness of a "snack pack" kebab the staple diet of everyone helping. =) More soon! |
