Kobe couldnt make a shot for himself if his life depended on it. What the hell happened to him??? Seems like all of a sudden he lost all his fucking footwork. He was running around like he has fucking lead in his shoes...

It's easy to see why the Celtics won, this is an annual event for the Lakers. The Lakers have been a top team the whole time that the Celtics were trying to get back to the finals. To have one chance at something makes you try that much harder to get it, and thats all it took this time around... the Lakers will come back strong next year for sure, only time will tell if the Celtics will be there

Like I said before, it will not take the best defensive team in the league very long to stop one player no matter how good that one guy is. The rest of the lakers team just plain didn't show up.

+1. I wonder how the starters are going to be next season. I'm thinkin with Bynum back and Gasol moving to a more comfortable forward position along Odom, and then Kobe and Farmar/Fisher as the guards, we might be fuckin BOSS for next season.

Props to Tim Legler...the only guy on ESPN that picked the Celtics. Everyone else is all talking now saying it's no surprise that C's won...that's BS they were all picking Lakers in 5 and 6 just like on here.

When its basically 5 on 1, it really isnt that hard to stop a guy. And no he wasnt ball hogging. If the rest of the team is gonna sleep then he has no choice. I swear, Kobe cant do anything right with some of you people. He passes the ball and doesnt shoot as much he's being lazy and not getting involved. His team basically stops playing so he takes over all offensive responsibilities and he's a ball hog.... Get the fuck outta here. And no he's not trying to compare himself to Jordan. Have any of you seen the interviews?! He hates that comparison. He said it himself that its ridiculous and that Jordan is on a completely different level. He just wants to be Kobe. |

Only one that said that was 98koukile. What Rob's S14 was describing really was poor decision making.

it's not so much kobe ball hogging it's the stupid shots that he takes. again if he took smart shots instead of forcing things, people would have nothing to say. and of course kobe is going to say he hates the comparison to MJ but in reality you know he wants to be as good as him and it's never going to happen. what you want him to say "yeah I'm as good MJ, maybe better" get real. nobody will ever admit to wanting to be the next MJ, even LeBron, but in his case why else would he choose 23? |

true those shots were bad. But think about it, who else was stepping up? They get flustered then they just stand around. Call me crazy, but i'll take a poor shot attempt from Kobe over any other Laker or their lack there of any day of the week. ATLEAST the dude is giving it his all instead of just bitching out and not showing up (insert any other Laker)
EDIT: So what if he wants to be as good as him? Dude what the fuck is your deal? What is so wrong with him wanting to be the best? So by your logic having a competitive nature is pointless. Anybody thats truly passionate about their sport wants to be the best. That holds true no matter what sport it is. How do you not get that? Seriously, if you dont like the guy, just say you dont like the guy. |

Hey I think Kobe took some bad jumpshots, but I also think some of his bad shots were because he sometimes really had no where to go or drive the ball, credit to Boston's D. At that point I'd rather Kobe jack up a long jumper than Sasha or someone try to create a shot for themselves. If I were Kobe and my best wingman shows up half the times (LO) and my best big man plays like he's scared (Gasol) than I'll probably try to force some issues too. Boston's D figured out Kobe and the Lakers but Kobe and the Lakers couldn't figure out Boston's D.
And everyone overrated the Lakers and underrated the Celtics because the Celtics struggled before the finals while the Lakers rolled (which, in hindsight, was a boon for the Celtics), not because they have something against Boston or because they love Kobe's nuts, get over this everyone hates us and disrespects us thing. This is not really directed at you, Rob, just a random insert. Edit: I agree Revat. Just saw your post after I posted mine. Everyone hates Kobe and hates how he wants to be MJ. I've no doubt he wants to be even better than MJ, but what's wrong with that? Quote:

There is nothing wrong with him wanting to be that good. I don't remember saying it was a bad thing ever.
The reason his teammates are just "standing around" is because once they miss a few times Kobe starts calling for the ball at the top of the key and calling an iso. That's fine if it's working but since the defense was only giving him jump shots an iso isn't going to work. Had they stuck to running the offense, you know going inside to Pau first and cutting through the lane they would get better shots. It showed in the first quarter, but all of a sudden a few shots don't fall and he takes a few bad shots and it just snowballed. Kobe can "give his all" without taking bad shots. How bout play defense. How many times did Pierce get by him, or that lazy defense he played on Rondo allowing him to get by him for a layup or get to the lane. All of this blame doesn't fall on Kobe...Phil should be taking alot of heat too, but it seems like he's getting a pass, which is wrong. BTW, competition is good...and nothing the fuck is wrong with me thank you. |

Some people just can't see and understand the passion he has for the game. He doesn't want to be MJ. He wants to be BETTER than MJ. What's so wrong about that? Some people just have a hidden hate for him. Yes he's cocky at times, yes he has had his problems in the past, yes his image isn't as good as what it used to be, but who gives a fuck? The guy works harder than anyone in the league, but gets shit for it. The guy can't win with any of you close-minded people, or the media. He gets no love. He's a great teammate, as all his Lakers this year have said. You always see him talking to them and giving them advice during the game. Even when the Lakers were down 30+ last night, you saw him talking to Odom and Gasol about the gameplan.
The draft is next week! Someone go make an '08-09 NBA Off-Season Thread. |

I think that's something you'd be obliged to do
With Bynum back, we'll DEFINITELY step up our defensive game. Either they need to get a new defensive coach, or keep studying game footage from the finals.

AGAIN....I never said there was anything wrong with wanting to be as good/better than MJ, hell I want to be that good too. I agree Kobe does work his ass off, there's no plausible argument there.
I think the Lakers should scrap the Triangle,(since they rarely use it anyways) and gear up for more a motion offense. They're jump shooters anyways so that seems like it would free more people up. Unless they are willing to stick to the Triangle at all times and be more disciplined...and yeah some D would help. Last edited by Rob's S14; 06-18-2008 at 02:46 PM.. Reason: something to add |

Honestly if I was Phil I would have tried some VERY different lineups in the 3rd quarter. Anything to try to control the paint. I would have even gone as far as mihm, gasol, ronny, odom, and kobe. Just try to out-muscle them. I mean it is the finals! Your team is pathetic at this point! Why not do some weird shit to try to get something going? At least put two bigs on the floor at the same time! 3 bigs like in the line-up I listed above is pretty damn extreme.
