My friend's 90 integra stutters as he's accelerating into 1st. Wondering if anyone could offer any insight or guesses as to what could be causing this?

is he accelerating into first as in downshifting? or accelerating on first?

Could be poor compression in one of the cylinders.....Hopefully that's not though because it's expensive to get fixed.  My friend has a 94 Celica and had the same problem...he took it to a shop and that was the diagnosis.
