thanks to AL and JAY for throwing a great event!
sonny and martin were tough competators for me in my little corolla, but all was fun. pulling a 3rd place spot only makes me want to push harder the next time around to try to take 1st or 2nd. again thanks for the great event and all the support you guys gave!

Its easy to say "yea lets just treat him like everyone else" "hes just like one of us" but in all reality he isn't. And its not like he has no choice, like run what you brung and hes forced to drive a 600 horsepower custom suspension viper. He chose to go with all that, and yea I enjoy laughing at the fact a privateer with the fraction of horsepower and suspension mods placed above him. |

Hell yeah. Congrats again to Sonny. I was up in the announcing booth helping out up there (playing the music, announcing a little), and Sonny was initiating for the first turn halfway down the straightaway! No one else at the event initiated that early.
Damn, I had a good time. Can't wait for the next one! Thanks everyone for putting on a great event, and letting me help! BTW, I hope no one had a problem with the music played in the later part of the day...that was me... Next time, I'm playing "bad boys" the Cops theme when the Drift Patrol car comes out.

some guy named mario was driving caspers car.
btw, nick hogan did ok. he still lacks the skill and experiance to place top honors, but at least he's still going out there and trying. does it matter that he has a ready race prepped car? yeah it hurts our feelings, but who cares its not like he's dominating the scene. did you happen to see that FULL race stock car that was trying to qualify? what about the full race rx7 sa22 that tried to qualify? pat still is on top, end of discussion. i didn't hear any of the top 8 drivers complain that nick hogan was using a viper did you? funny we're discussing this because one of the mopar team was commenting to me how there was a full tube chassis stock car competing, then i say to him, "well, in proam, we have cars like this 600hp viper racing against my daily driven little corolla. the rules are pretty flexable out here."

Seriously man, a stock car set up for oval racing and a SA22 built for road course action isn't anything to be compared to Viper that's built strictly for drift that's currently holding the number 2 spot in FD. I wouldn't expect a stock car or a SA22 to do good in comp anyways. And yea, I don't really think any of the other top 8 guys would have a reason to complain either, most of them are running cars with half the technology, I would pat my self on the back. But I do feel that most of those top 8 guys in that very same viper would dominate better then hogan. In order for me to respect hogan I would have to see him in a different car. A rolla or a S chassis, but I doubt we will see that even if they took away his sponsorship. And its hard for me to believe that car is hard to drift problems or not, Sam. H earned top 8 with that car with a new motor. And all the problems with it were caused by nicks crash or crashes . But don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Nick Hogan. I don't know if hes a real competitor or just a trendy fan that will be done competing when the next big thing comes around(he was trying to get into NHRA before he saw drifting). But I do know one thing, hes living every single 16 year olds fantasy by drifting the mopar dodge viper. I blame mopar, there in a race for a formula D championship and there lending there competition car out too some new booty drift kid that has never had any experience in competition. At least lend the car out too someone with more experience, some who has been running there own car in comp for some time now, someone who deserves it. I like pat and hogan though, I don't think hogan will get his licence this year so I'm looking forward to competing against both of them next year. |

You really got to give it up for Martin Cromwell.
a day before the event he crashed his car and totally messed up the suspension, and broke the bead on three tires. He camps out at the junkyard the morning of the event, and fixes the suspension links just enough to make the car drivable. He shows up right before tech closes, and barely gets in. He had blown coils, and a stock KA, and sucked during practice. Then during qualifying, he starts pulling these awesome runs out of nowhere, qualifying first, and ends up taking fourth in the event. Pretty awesome if you ask me. |

The course layout wasn't bad at all, it was pretty fun to drive actually.
The only difficulties I saw/experianced were finding the right place to initiate in a low-power car to carry enough speed to link into the technical section, and with hi-power cars coming in too fast and shooting off the track. The inconsistent track surface did mess up alot of people though. You could see Calvin get caught off guard on his demo runs by varying track surfaces. It got me too, I nailed my second qualifying run, and then hit a slippery spot right at the exit and spun. I don't know what was up with a lot of the drivers, the majority were driving much better cars than Martin and I (mine was bone stock with a weak clutch and no ebrake, and martins was just seriously jacked) but struggling with the course. I saw alot of understeer and spins, maybe the reverse layout was messing up norcal people? Case in point, Luke should have been dominating, but he spun every run. EDIT: just read Luke's post, that would explain the problems he had. Maybe someone who's familar with the track can give some input. |

My car was being effected from conrads crash. I was able to get it alligned, but after cross measuring the chassis, it turns out the passenger side front strut tower is 1" higher, 3/4" rearward, 1" diag, than the drivers side. I was having problems trying to adjust to it, feels like the car is on 3 wheels. I was able to pull off some ok runs in practice, but nothing that was on par with sonny or some of the other guys out there. Congrats to Sonny, your the man!! I hope you get picked up by some huge team, and get to do this professionally. Congrats to Dan. I have never seen you drive like that. Good goin man! I hope that i can get my chassis pulled and all back in shape for the next event. I think i would have been very competitive if it was running ok, but hey i still had a blast seeing everyone, burning some tires, and watching all you guys kick ass. Also i had the chance to hang out with Nick Hogan on friday, He is a very cool person. I was skeptical at first, but after hanging out with him on friday, i was very impressed. Its rare to meet people that have that type of life style, but are still regular people. Nicks mom is also super cool, i hope Nick can get some more seat time, and kick ass.
