I want to add a few other parts to my shift knob order - oil relocation kit and drain plug, will the shopping cart calculate the shipping correctly, or should I order by phone? I only ask because I live in Japan (not an APO).

Also, can you confirm if the relocation kit will fit on a 1JZ? If not, I'll let you know. Haha.

I ordered the orange one because it was the coolest looking one of them all. The black would have been ok, but I have a feeling that it would get really hot in the summer. If I like the feel of it, I might just have to order another one for my Subie... It would be sweet if there was a red one

Just ordered my shift knob and ebrake knob. What part of the sleeve do you cut to make it short and when you mean sleeve are you talking about the thread?

You cut the black threaded part to make it go really low. Use loctite to fix the position.

this thing is baller!! love it!!
do you know if any research was done for weights to insert into the knob?
its about half the weight of my old knob and thought insertable weights would be sweet..
or if anyone has any ideas how to add weight inside the shifter im open to suggestions!

i was looking into some lead/steel weights like these

i just duno where to order them or what they even are lol
figuring out the size needed is the easy part

EDIT: they are called LEAD SASH WEIGHTS
you could also cut a steel/lead pipe of the appropriate diameter i would think
now i just need to find a place to find them locally..hope this helps

When you have the knob adjusted up like you have it, you can fit a solid piece of lead or steel rod in the hollow center above the black threaded part and below the gold top. You can just unscrew the top hat and drop in the weight. You could wrap the weight in paper so that it does not bounce around in there. If it feels too heavy you could cut the weight down, and repack it, and then when it feels right to you can make a more permanent method of retaining the weight.

i want to say, this is an ingenious solution to making an adjustable shift knob without making it a lot of hassle for the user...

if you want to put in weight, i would suggest making the lower threaded section of the knob hollow down to the point where the shifter male threads into the knob female...then make it so you can add weights into the cylinder
