both of those caddies are rad, but, also incredibly bad on gas. i may have a short commute, but that'd be like driving the car i have now and just throwing handfuls of cash out the windows every couple miles.

I just wanna say that cars from the late 60's and early 70's fucking owned. There will never be anything else like them. I personally think those few short years were the pinnacle of automotive design and expression. Yeah technology and electronics are cool and all but seriously, those cars had everything I'd ever need. I don't need satellite navigation or radio, voice activated controls, a million switches on my steering wheel, traction control or electronic stability control, etc. I'll always love old school.
/nostalgic thoughts I need to own at least 1 or 2 of these cars before I die 67-69 Camaro (a guy I know sold his '68 and still has his '69...refuses to sell it to me) 68-70 Charger (My pops had a '68...I know he misses that car) 68-72 Chevelle or Skylark/Gran Sport 65-70 Impala SS (when I went to HS this one kid had a really clean one) 69-70 Marauder |

Here's my cars for inspiration.
1974 Duster: I paid $2650 for it, and put another $3500 worth of parts in it. You can find them now for less than what I paid. For example, a 318 auto '74 is going for about $2000 in beat driver condition. a slant six '71 can be picked up for around $2500. There are usually at least 6 for sale at any given time on craigslist. 1973 Satellite: I paid $1700. If you can find one, you can get it from about $2000 for a project/shell, to about $4500 for decent driver. The prices on these recently went up a bit. |

I would say the Dart or Swinger. i have always been a fan of thier boxier style. 2" drop with some pipes and your looking good. Nice and Cheap.
maybe a nova. no rake on it though. just lower it onto some older american style racing rims or mags. |

Plymouth Furies are awesome and cheap.
More cars for inspiration It would have been cool to be in the market when these were $1200 cars and people did this with them... |

Sorry. I guess I posted too fast. I should've added that the pics are not my actual cars. I used the pics as a reference due to the fact that I dont have access to my pics folder. However, I do daily a 1980 chevy malibu and that my oldschool project is a 1976 Toyota Celica. Back when they were still RWD.

update: checking out a '73 Plymouth Scamp tomorrow. 225 slant six. not much power but pretty much indestructible. car's got a little quarter rust (find me a 35 year old car that doesn't) and a radiator leak, $1200 OBO. give him a grand, put another $1500 or so into new rad/hoses, I/H/E, 4 barrel, patch the quarters, garage paint job... could be a fun little econo rocket. with a funny name.

If you are in SoCal, I've got some free parts for you. If you buy it, check out forabodiesonly.com, best site for Chrysler A-bodies. Nice color, I dread what's under the vinyl roof however. |

and yeah, we'll see when i check it in person... i'd like to respray it charcoal with a black trunk stripe, or maybe olive drab since it's already practically that color. probably won't fuck with the roof just to avoid the horror show.

Why not an old Caddy? Comfy, cushy, decent MPG for a boat...highway bruiser.
I'd love to find some old, 71 fleetwood or something...just to pimp the heck around.

The only way I'd ever buy one of these cars is if it resembled something I had seen out of a badass movie. Like dropping f-bombs everywhere, lots of guns, dialog, and suit wearing dudes kind of movie.
Oh, that first thing you posted is cool. |

there's a guy right down the street who has a purple vega with something like 18" wide rubber on the back. if you look at it from the back, it looks like there's more rubber than axle. it's pretty dope.

Vegas can be pretty cool. I had one for a few years with a built 350. Was black with a cowl hood scoop and all shaved emblems. Ill see if I can find some pics when I get home.
Actually looking for one for my next project car. |
