hey,

so i was talking to a buddy of mine last weekend and he just installed his JDM DCC in his S13 and as we were playing around with it we both noticed that it actually SUCKS that the display dims when you turn on your lights, for example if your driving in rain you turn on your lights but can't see shit on your DCC because its still too light outside. so we want the display to be lit as bright as if you were driving with no light.

we already tried playing with the light signal wire but then the lights of the buttons didn't work.

does anyone besides us feel bothered by this and/or has a solution to that problem?

Find the dimmer lead going to the DCC, ground it on the DCC side, leave the other side loose and insulated. That way the dimmer won't affect it at all when the lights are turned on.
On US cars it's red/yellow, though most JDM cars don't have a dimmer. If you wired it as OE the wire will be black but connected to a red/yellow in the dash.

did you figure out what the color of the wire on the DCC side is? my 180's DCC does this and i cant stand it, would love to be able to rig it up so it doesnt dim anymore

I'm pretty sure it would be black, does your car have a dimmer? If so, it's red/yellow, but I don't recall ever seeing a front clip with a dimmer. In that case find the schematic in the FSM, it will be the ground side of the illumination circuit. Basically it's the same as a car with a dimmer but those cars use a variable ground, whereas without a dimmer it's just a ground, without resistance.

nah my car doesnt have a dimmer. ill just have to pull the DCC out and compare it to the schematic like you said.

now that i know its the ground side of the illumination circuit that should make things pretty easy
