1995 Nissan 240SX S14 Kouki SR20DET Slicktop
I am ready to part ways with my 1995 Nissan 240SX, which has passed Colorado emissions testing and has a clean title. It is ready to take to the track as-is for high performance driving events. Optionally have a roll cage fitted for wheel-to-wheel racing, or re-install interior and HVAC for a daily driver. Has been owned (since 2003) and built by a mechanical engineer and Nissan enthusiast. Only 111,500 miles on the chassis, which is quite low for a 21 year old vehicle.
This S14 starting life as a manual transmission, base model Zenki slicktop, without sunroof, which makes it essentially the lightest and stiffest S14 chassis available. After the front driver's side fender was hit while the vehicle was parked, I swapped the fenders, hood, lighting, and headlight supports over to the OEM JDM Kouki (1997-1998 style) parts. After daily driving it through 2007, I started building it into the track-ready car it is today. I removed the KA24DE engine and fitted the period-correct S14 SR20DET engine and transmission. I upgraded the fuel pump with an OEM Z32 (300ZX twin-turbo) part, not a typical Walbro part. Has only been run at 12psi (fitted with an HKS wastegate actuator) with is well within the stock turbo limit. The engine is running on the OEM ECU, which is to say that it runs perfectly at any altitude. I eliminated all unnecessary interior components and sound-deadening material to minimize weight. HVAC and power steering systems have been deleted. Stance Al+Pro coilovers allow height and dampening adjustment (as well as spring rates by swapping springs). Car has been corner weighted with driver, with a total wet vehicle weight of 2,375lb and 52.4%/47.6% front/rear weight distribution. Wheels and tires have been sized to maximize grip while maintaining OEM steel fenders. They are... 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x8 +25 w/ Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec 235/40R17 (front) 5Zigen FN01R-C 17x9 +35 w/ Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec 255/40R17 (rear) This car has been a blast to build and drive, but I simply don't have the time to enjoy it anymore. I'd love to see it go to another enthusiast who will take good care of it, as I have. I have a complete parts list on Google docs and a folder full of receipts which will be given to the new owner. Car looks like a great build!
However, can we get a readout of the actual vehicle weight?? Last I checked, a full interior SR S14 weighs about 2700-2800 lbs without driver (wet weight). Last I weighed mine with SR and all accessories, with me in it it weighed in right at 3100 lbs (I am 205). I am having a hard time seeing this weighing 500-700 lbs less without some serious lightweight parts ( I still see the stock glass for instance). That is NC miata territory! Also, can you publish the full parts list for the public to view. May save you some headache in the end. GLWS! |

Thanks for the questions RalliartRsX. I've updated my original post with the full list of parts. I've got the corner weighting sheet at home, I'll scan it and add it to the Google Photos album later tonight or tomorrow. Regarding the weight, I agree that a stock 1995 240sx should weigh in around 2800 lbs without driver. This is a non-sunroof base model car though, so I'd expect it started off a bit lower. All of the interior and sound deadening material has been removed, besides the dash, center console and door panels. All of the HVAC and power steering components have been removed. Even the wire harness has been minimized to save weight. Since corner weighting, I've only added the front bash bar and skidplate, which maybe weigh 50lbs total. I'd imagine that this is one of the lightest S14's out there today.

FYI...I have a set of OEM Kouki seats that match the door panels. I can swap those in if the buyer would prefer instead of the bucket seats.
