S13 2JZ swap, no AC
I've had my S13 with a 2J swap for a while now and I'm looking to get the AC working again, some of you wouldn't believe how damn hot that 2J starts to get the car on the freeway. I've searched through online but can't seem to find a definite or step-by-step DIY guide to getting the AC working again. Anyone have previous experience with this issue that could tune in? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you would just need custom lines made and figure out how to wire it up.

yeah i would use your stock, condenser, evaporator, and obviously a 2j compressor. and just have the lines custom made, but you will need the fittings that screw on the s13 fire wall..so having all the s13 AC lines would be a plus. wiring shouldn't be much at all honestly.

Also consider any of the systems that assist your idle when you kick the a/c on. If it has any.

another thing to think of is how hot these motors RUN, so if you start covering up the ic/radiator with a condenser you might be in trouble, good luck i look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Dude,
All will bolt on all you in to re-fit the JZ comp lines to the stock lines. about wiring you can wire it directly to the stock wires (its a small wire on the driver side) and you hook it it the power wire of the comp. the bad side is you won't get the kick up-down when you turn it on/ go WOT more info ? sure ask here : (ALOT of info just ask) MyJZSwap Forum - Index

Flicktitty is rite I didn't even think about the condenser. Yeah I know how hot these engines run, every time I drive for more than 30 minutes my friggin feet/legs are burning. You know how we 240ers like to take out the ashtray and use it as a cup holder? 2J's in Cali are awesome for turning a cold drink hot in a matter of minutes >_<

Hey Jared , Im Doing A 2jz S13 Swap , And I Wanted The a/c Too , have you find a way to do it ? what do i need ect? was it hard ?

Anyone thought of running an entirely separate, battery based AC system? Wouldn't have to worry about the overheating issues and i know some companies make them for old hot rods and classic cars.

Resurrecting this thread now that summer is in full swing. It seems the signal the 240sx sends to the ECU to turn the A/C on is on the F1 plug (blue/green wire). The weird thing I noticed is when you turn the A/C off, this wire has 6 volts...when I turned A/C on, it drops to 0. I wish I could check another 240sx to verify this. The problem is the 2jz ECU wants a +12v positive signal on pin 34 of the 40 pin connector in order to turn on the A/C by triggering a negative signal on pin 23 of the 40 pin connector which should be wired to pin 1 of the A/C relay in the engine compartment, which turns the relay on to put +12v to the compressor. This is how my harness is wired from Dr. Tweak, which I do not recommend. Anyways, it doesn't work as is from these amatuer wiring business, so I am going to wire a small switch wired to a ground on one side and to the A/C relay ground wire on the other to manually turn on the A/C, then I will split the +12v signal going to the compressor and send one wire to the compressor and one back to pin 34 so the ECU will know to idle up. I used a mx83 Cressida top hat and suction hose on the compressor, and the 240sx high pressure hose, then had to get about a 1 ft section of custom hose with the firewall fitting on one end, and the Cressida fitting on the other. It's all charged, now just needs the switching to work right.

You need to fix the heat transfer issue first. Get some OEM shields from the junkyard and cut a few nice sections to fit between the engine/exhaust and the car to keep the heat out of the interior. Wrap the downpipe / manifold. Get a turbo blanket. A/C lines are not going to enjoy being heat soaked, and adding A/C to a car that runs a heater 100% of the time is backwards.
