well not to be posting false news but, if this is the same people who i think are putting it on,McKinney motorsports should be involved in this. Also i think they might get a few Pro's out there. I Have Heard that Rhys might show up with the GT HOE. This is what Mckinney motor sports told me. Maybe Sam Hubbinette. (did i spell that right?) All from what i have heard is from a reliable source. Also it is going to be pushed into Aug. around the middle of the month. Once again this is a reliable source sooo....as soon as i hear more i will let everyone know.

i think thats totally diferent, i heard a couple months ago that gary from mckinney was trying to set up sumthin at qualcomm. but he was running into alota problems, but ive also heard that qualcomm is opening up to alot of clubs for events becuase they want the revenue. of course i have also heard from dave turner that they were having problems with the autocrossers making too much noise, and leaving tread marks in the lot. seems to me alot of rumors, dunno, but ive personally talked to gary and i know he is setting up an event and this was before i had even ever heard of drift tech,so i believe its totally separate from drifttech

knightrider, i think you and i are talking about the same thing then. Thats who i have been talking to is Gary. And i know who the people who his working with to make this happen. From what they have told me this should happen in Aug. i talked to them about a week ago so this is very recent news. Also drifting should be around $100. Well thats the goal, it could be higher or lower.One of the people who are trying to do this are going to give me forms to hand out so that people can start signing up. Everyhing should be going full throttle after Formula D in TX. Because McKinney and the other people will be there. i will talk to one of the organizers on thursday and see what else to find out. By the way have you seen McKinneys new drift cars!!!!!! Very nice. ALso McKinney is doing alot for the drifting community. They are trying to work a deal with Montegi wheels to make a "drifter" special to where you can get 6 wheels with tires for around $1500 or so. and with good offsets for us. This is in the drawing board still though.

the news coverage on local dirfters will be on kswb 10'o clock news, tomorrow, wed., the 26. There will be video of a few north county guys from Drift Tech drifting at the Q.

Let me make this clear. Drift Tech is the only one setting up drifting at qualcom. They have been working side by side with race legal to make this happen for all the local drifters. The reason for this was to provide a safe place for drifters to practice there driving skills. Dave turner or mckinney motorsports have nothing to do with this event. They maybe doing something on there own,but Drift Tech is making this happen at qualcom. Drift Tech has already done a private drift session there with news media coverage. KSWB news was there and rode with drifters. The media story will air wednesday evening news 5/26/04 This is direct from the source.

sorry stretch, i wasnt trying to convey that you were working with anyone other than racelegal, its just that i know mckinney is also setting up a totally separate event scheduled sometime in august. and i also frequent dave turner, and they are very active in the local racing scene, being that they are one of the better race shops, theyve tried to hold events at qualcomm and have been turned down for various reasons before, which i stated, but it seems since the padres got thier new stadium, the organizers are allowing more events to happen, my guess is revenue.

I saw the news coverage, but is it just me or did you guys feel the clip on the mask mexican crazy drivers was unnecesary. They were not even drifting and I'm sure we don't want to be associated with those people.

Yes I have already talked to jeff powers at KSWB news to convey my feelings on the matter. I mentioned the fact that some retarded renagade wanna be street racers/drifters have nothing to do with the good people of the community. They do nothing but to give real drifters a bad name. It is a news station and all they do is report the news good or bad. It just blows because it was combined in the story. On another note I will have a final date,price and requirements for the first ever drift day at qualcomm by the end of this week.

You guys are really cutting it close I think. Its already the 4th and still no date. How do you expect everyone to plan for this if the info does not come up untill the last minute?
I am sure I sound like a real @$$ saying that, I have no doubt you guys are working hard on this. But I for one have to request weekends off work, so if I don't have enough notice I am SOL. I really want to be able to show up and support the local driving!

yea im kinda wondering the same thing as speedmonkey, you need to have some notice, the event doesnt have to happen in june, i would shoot for july, cuz without notice, turnout will suffer, cuz ppl make plans, even though i really dont wanna wait, but money will be tight with the drift day competition. i hope i can balance my budget to allow me to attend, since most of my extra money right now is going to getting my CA18 in by the end of summer.

i was chillin with fatty sat night..to update it wont be for almost 2 months cuz the place is being rented out to jw and stuff...dont get mad at me but i think prices start from 100000000 dollars and he bottles it at 10 people..jp i think its around 60-80 maybe and 80 people till its closed out

well, i called ed at drifttech, and the event is still on, theyre still trying to get a date, the stadium is a hard place to book, he mentioned sumthin about a month long event going on, so itll prolly be after that. he told me the event was going to be structured around run groups, with 80 cars max. with 10 cars on a loop track, 15 minute run sessions, it should be really cool, instead of 1 run every 10 minutes, you get 15minutes at a time. he also mentioned that sign ups would be at drifttech in vista.

Wow run groups club racing style would be sick!

It could back fire with lots of people spinning out, and clogging up the track witht yellow flags out constantly. But I think that setup would be really good otherwise.
