You can put the ECU in set timing/idle speed mode by warming the engine fully and disconnecting the TPS.

Follow the FSM procedure to get into timing mode.

IIRC you are supposed to warm up the car to operating temperature..

turn off the car and unplug TPS

start the car and rev it a few times

if you still cant get into timing mode or if your timing is not stable, you probably have other issues affecting your timing.

I want to know if the datascan 2 software is compatible with a SR20det #62 ECU...
Clueless on the data scan but I was having the same problem idle not dropping below 1500 rpm on my ka and I had to set idle with the harness that went to my iacv unplugged, maybe it’s worth a try.

You need Nissan Data Scan 1 for Consult 1 based ECUs. The different versions are not backward compatible. Kind of frustrating since I have an S15 SR, an 06 G35, and an 18 Armada: 3 different versions of Consult.

So far I've had to buy NDSI and NDSII phone apps, luckily those are only $10 each. Just don't have all the features of the desktop versions.

I think I found a list once of Consult 1 software and played with them all. Don't have my laptop with me, but should be able to find with some google-fu. Some were easier to get running than others.

Like someone mentioned above, if you're having issues getting into timing mode manually, there might be another issue. You can check for pending codes and make sure all sensors are working with the free NDSI lite app, if you have android and the right USB adapter for the cable. Common ones are the neutral switch not showing you're in neutral, or not driving around for 15 minutes to ensure car is fully warmed up.
