The "do you remember thread!
Now this isn't for car related stuff. This is for those of us that grew up "back in the day" and cant remember some of the toys, shows, cartoons, etc from back then. Maybe someone will remember and you can get those answers. Or just take a trip down memory lane with people that watched the same shows or played with the same toys as you.
I Have a few: first is toys. Back in the day, after micro machines, there were these di-cast action toys. Mostly jets and helicopters, there were tanks too. but the designs of the jets and helo's were kinda futuristic. I remember they were about the first dicast toy helo's wich rotors actually spun freely. They were kinda a big thing, and they had a few bigger "base" vehicles that you could by that held a few of them. Second: there were these model toys that were plastic. they were smaller sized. I used to get them for about a dollar. you snapped all the parts together like you were putting it together. they were the typical planes, jets, cars, tanks. Later they introduced spaceships and some others. And last...for toys. Does anyone remember the little space figure play toys with the soldiers that had magnets on their feet? the vehicles kinda live action transformed into assault vehicles? there were spacecraft , little jeep utility assault things, but the guys with magnets on their feet were the coolest! OK I lied. Remember G.I Joe introduced those gliders that came with guys to go on them, and they really flew?!!! CARTOONS: Bots Master, Jayce and the wheeled warriors, Centurions, Silver Hawks (rumored to be coming back), Kind Arthur and the knights of the round. Hulk Hulgans wresting cartoon. Heathcliff!! Movies. This one might be a shot in the dark So one of the two movies I have been looking for for forever: it had to be early 90's maybe even late 80's. It was kinda a scary movie in a way. There was this lake/pool in a rock quarry and people would go swim there. but I was "haunted" and people would dissapear in it. The tale tail sign was the bubbles that started right before they were pulled under. SPOILER At the end, it was revealed that it was an old back hoe or tractor that had sunk and was creating an undertow and pulling people under. second movie was deff an 80's movie. It had charlie sheen , john cusak and some others. the most I remember was there was a beach house or a beach club where john cusak and the girl from full house (kimmy gibbler) were playing volleyball or something....and there was a ghost girl there two. I think towards the end the house/building caught on fire? and for reminiscing: House (horror movie) , Troll! and troll 2, Garbage pail kids, Unico, The witching of Ben Wagner, The Peanutbutter solution, The boy who could fly, and Flight of The Navigator! One book: It was before they censored a lot of the shit kids read. ( The Great Gillie Hopkins comes to mind) anyways: The book starts off with these kids sitting in the car at a mall. They are waiting on their mom to come back out. Time passes and the mom doesn't come. They stay the night in the car. Later the next day they decide that they are going to get out and walk to their grandmothers house in Connecticut or somewhere like that. The book centers around their journeys in getting to their grandmothers house. Its a pretty awesome book, just cant remember the name of it. I recommend most people, old or young, boy or girl read both books (Great Gillie Hopkins and the one mentioned above.

Micromachines
But I grew up playing these: TMNT Battle Van with every character GI Joe Ghost Rider Jet Warthog (shit actually floats on water) Snake-Eyes Heavy muffucking Duty Sgt Slaughter Top 5 forgotten Cartoons of the 80s: Silver Hawks, MASKS (which I'm still surprised they havent made a movie out off), Dinosaucers, Cops (seen it, didnt get into it) and Bionic Six One thing thats awesome about cartoons back then, they all have catchy intros. But in this is pretty much my childhood in less than 7 mins... |

Yes, to pudding in a pull-tab can.
I loved mask, I still have some of the action figures. My favorite being the motor cycle that turned into a helicopter. I hated micro machines untill they made the indy cars and helicopters. then I became an avid fan. I see them pop up on CL every now and then, might actually by some just for the sake of it. Remember these:

fuckin just found the little die-cast toys I was talking about as well. Shit just bought a tear to my eye. Lol, kids these days have no imagination due to hyper-interactive toys.
these things were soooo fucking futuristic back then....

there were also these dinosaur bone toys, that you could create your own dinosaur. It was an action toy thing. IIRC there were rockets and stuff that came with them. it was like the dinosaur version of legos, in a way.

Zoids got huge ! I still have all the episodes of the first series. Not the one with Zero, but the one with Zeke, but the one with Bit. Zoids fusion was pretty cool as well.
I didn't put up voltron because they bought it back. Same with Thunder cats. But if your gonna talk about robots and mechs then gobots should be in there as well.

Remember tiger sharks and camp scary that used to come on with tiger sharks.? Tiger sharks are supposed to come back with silver hawks.
I didn't see the devastator pic at first. I has his counterparts the jets that combines and the cars ( speedsters or something like that). @the ronin: holy shit that's it!! In damn near 25 years no one has ever know that movie when I ask, and I ask a ton of people. I'd buy you a beer if I could!

So down for this thread, I love nostalgia. I remember debating on making a thread similar to this a while back.
sup tho? And how many were down with Beast Wars Transformers?! These were all of the Maximal forms from season 1 and their Transmetal(1 & 2) forms in season 2 and 3. I'm sure you guys remember this sequence in the intro

Not sure if these were ever sold in the US, but Burago scale model cars.
I wonder if any of the ones I had are worth anything, because apparently a lot of the older models are selling for big money now. w w w . B B U R A G O . c o m |

Does anyone remember the little tiny plastic figures with the holograms on their chest?
They almost resemble a cross between skylanders and moshi monsters. they were more battle oriented but came in a lot of variety like moshi monsters. they had holograms on their chest which revealed if they were one of the elemnts: earth, fire, wind, water. also, the fail that was Tamagachi.
