Removing Rear quarter glass on S13 hatch:
Howdy:
My car is going in for a complete color change this week. I will be removing rear quarter glass on this car. I have removed glass on all other window's, yet i have heard that the rear glass on these car's is a bit tricky. Has anyone has experience with removing this glass and if so, should i expect any problems? Do i need replacement clips for the glass as well? Thanks a ton,

AFter I removed the bolts, I blasted the hell out of it with a heat gun.
Other than that, it's just the tedious work of slowly pushing it out. Or you could be lasy like my friend and punch it out. I highly disagree with that one.

yea if your planning on keeping the old ones then it's going to take forever to get them out, and you will most likely break them while trying to take them out.

Painting it with them on isnt so hard, as long as you make sure to do an absolutely perfect tape line... i suggest taping a bit over, and using a fresh razor knife to cut along the edge of the weather stripping. Of course removing them isnt so much hard as it is time consuming... just make sure to get the bolts undone, and grab a friend and a couple heat guns or hairdryers if you have nothing better, heat it till the sealant is good and gooey, and you both need to push at the same time.. that way you run less risk of breaking it. Someone once told me that another way to get it out is to cool it down and take a piece of piano wire and get it through the sealant to the outside of the car and have a friend help and move the piano wire like a saw to cut the sealant.. i havent tried that personally.
Good luck.. what color is it gonna be?

i tried the saw method, it works.
i might be parting out a fastback. I'll take it off if you want to buy it. Orginally I was plannign to smash it and throw it away. (make the car into a truck and drive it for liek a day) |

Even better way to tape it off, let the car sit in the heat and warm up heavily, then slide a piece of stiff wire under the moulding. This will hold it up off the car, allowing you to spray behind it.
