Weird Windshield Wiper Issue?
I have a 1992 240sx hatch I bought from some random guy who seems to have messed with electrical wiring in some way. When I have my radio volume up loud, my windshield wipers come on. This is no coincidence, because I have tested it. It can even be within a few notches of volume that makes them come on randomly, it just depends on the song I'm listening to at the time. They do not constantly wipe when this happens. They come on and wipe the windshield once or twice and then theyre off until it happens again. Normally I just keep my volume relatively low, or take out the fuse for my windshield wipers when the weather is nice. Anyone have any idea of why this could be happening? Thanks for any feedback

Sounds like the previous owner somehow managed to short a speaker wire and the wiper switch wiring. Once the volume hits a high enough current, it triggers the wipers. I'd start tracing wires from the stereo.

Wiring the horn to the brake switch would also be a good touch!

You guys are killing me lmfao! Hell, I might as well. But I can already tell you that this dumbfuck who had my car had no idea what he was doing. "New doors speakers" he said. "Ya just gotta wire up the radio" he said. -Gets home with the car and takes the door panel off because I'm having issues... Looks like he put tweeters in the spot of my door speakers and taped around them to hold them in! I can already tell you... Theres going to be some dumbass splice work..

Yea, the previous owner of my car seems to have been a color blind chimpanzee. The stereo wiring is all kinds of dicked up. Can't wait to unfuck that rat's nest.

This legit sounds like a troll.
And tracing down electrical isnt that hard. Strip down the trims stereo etc, trace every wire and see which ones are tampered with, find out what that wire is for, its very easy, just time consuming. |

I thought the same thing as the other guys when you said the wipers would dance to the music. The wiper switch harness runs down the column then up under the dash. I doubt your retarded PO was stupid enough to hack any of those wires but you never know. Just taking off the driver under dash knee panel and pulling out the stereo will expose what you need.
