SR SR20 maf sensor problem?

I recently swapped in an SR after giving up on my stubborn KA, wired everything myself, plugged everything in (except MAF) and started it up nice. I started it up without the maf and it idled fine, then i cut and extended the maf sensor wires in order for me to plug it in and when i plugged the maf sensor in, it had a rough idle and eventually died.

ive already cleaned out the MAF several times with MAF cleaner and i have checked my wiring and rewired it 2 other times and it does the same thing

Now, i do not have the 02 sensor plugged in, could this be the culprit? would an unplugged 02 sensor cause the car to die out when the MAF is plugged in?

If i unplug the MAF it idles perfect but wont rev past 2.5k

Thanks in advance!!

1. boost leak test, fill the plumbing with 15psi of pressure find all leaks
2. make sure you use all the OEM equipment for the maf, the rubber intake boot, an air filter, the little wire insert for the rubber boot, the PCV tube to the valve cover

Now you start and see how it runs and drives, check the wideband for proper fueling (it goes into the 12's during WOT with 7psi of boost and drives around cruising near 14.7:1)

You can leave the O2 sensor unplugged for all these tests. Only plug the O2 back in when you are sure the maf is working and everything is leak free.

i think it was my bov. it wasnt recirculated. But now that i have recirculated it, it idles fine but when i tap the gas, it sputters a bit and drops RPMs and then goes back to normal ~800rpm. could this be a boost leak?
