Power Antenna replacement
So my power antenna is stuck and just makes a grinding noise when it tries to move. I don't care about fixing it it, I want to replace it with a non power antenna that doesn't look like a fucking RC car antenna. Are there any replacement antennas out there that are less than maybe a foot in length? I see them on newer cars all of the time but someone told me that the smaller antennas are for GPS...? Which...makes sense because I only see these on top end cars, but I could be wrong?
Thanks! Jason |

same thing with mine, it's stuck on the on position, so it's a permanent antenna, every time i turn on/off the car, it makes this funky noise for about 5 secs... thought about changing it to one of those mini rubber antenna, but got too lazy... some of them are really crappy looking (the ones that have that pivot ball underneath the short rubber antenna)...

Yea my antenna is the same way. Just grinds and grinds for about ten seconds when I turn the car on. Does anyone have pics of an S13 with the rubber antenna like that one above?

I saw a fellow on club240 or 240sxforums or something.. (can't remember ) that had put an antenna in there from a VW Golf. Ya know those short-ish roof ones? Looked pretty good.

search for a 350z amplified antenna. I dont think it's really for the 350Z, but it's black and looks really good. I bought one and it came with a german-made amplifier (claimed to be in BMWs) and without telling anyone else about the mod, my friends have commented on my clear reception. Looks good too, very sleek.
If I did it over again, I might just get one of those cheap autozone ones too. |

For right now I've got the power to the stock antenna unhooked. It looks kinda goofy, but I don't get 28 seconds of groaning whenever I switch the car on or off or put a CD in. Eventually I'm gonna fill in the hole for the fender antenna and put an S2000/VW/Mini Cooper type one in the roof where the useless squirter is.

Damn I just bought one off ebay for like $25:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2468313103 I guess we'll see how it works. When I bought my car the whole antenna was missing. Now I need another 2-prong to coax-type antenna adapter for my deck. |

I'm going to throw another vote up there for just shaving it off. About a year or two ago I took out my broken antenna and had the body filled smooth. I switched to XM Radio and it's much more enjoyable then anything local. I definitely recommend it.
Good luck, Matt |

I had the same problem with the antenna 2 months ago. I just un hooked the harness to the antenna motor and taped it somewhere. The radio is actually clearer than with the antenna now >_>.

I am going to shave the antenna hole and buy the auto loc antenna that goes on your window, its a small black box. My integra has it and it is awesome, it came stock. Just a suggestion.
