the hardest thing about P90x is trying to keep up with the exercises. His stamina and endurance are crazy, just nuts.

so let me get this right, he has you guys working out at least 6 days a week?
See I have my own workout schedule and I do upper body every other day in the mornings for an hour. I then run at night 3-5 miles which I do at least 3-5 times sometimes 6 a week. I am down to burning off the last bits of fat i.e. the hardest ones and have actually built quite a bit of muscle and tip the scales around 163-168. I would love to get to 150 but I am sure to do that I would be either so skinny or ripped to shit or both. LOL I would guess I am running around a 18-20% body fat ratio right now. I have not measured it yet. my target is like 10-15% Having a certain amount of body fat is needed for health reasons mind wise. Even Tom Venuto professional no steroid body building champion, runs at least 5% for competition and around 10% when not competing. He has a really good book called burn the fat build the muscle.

i pretty much have the same workout routine as you. hence, why i'm betting with my friend on the p90x and i'm not actually doing it. keep in mind tho, that the program is targeting maximum results within the short period of time of 3 months. a more balanced routine and diet is the way to go as far as long term goes. |

I've heard about this, just never seen the actual routines. If its anything like the '300' workout, then I can't imagine doing it six days a week.
I actually want to give it a try. I do workout, so the motivation is there...plus I'm want to get ready for the beach.

Two summers ago I lost over 45 pounds just from running and easing up on my diet. For the first couple of weeks I ran just 15 minutes 6 days a week bc I wasnt physically able to do more. After the second month of running, I was hard running 45 minutes a day. If I didnt stop, I'd probably be doing an hour and a half of good running a day. Man.. I wish I can still do that. Hopefully this P90X jump starts me back into the more active lifestyle I used to have.

It comes down to how bad you want it. I was always a fat ass my whole life. I didn't mind until I started having lots of health problems. I had back surgery a few years back, constant back/hip/joint pains, it was painful to even walk or get out of bed. The list just went on and on. I just thought that's the way I was going to be my whole life.
P90X is intense, it's made for people that are already fit and trying to get ripped. So for a lot of people, they'll be intimidated and just give up before they really even started. Don't let your ego get in the way. They give you different options for every move they do. So if you can't do a pull up, use a chair. If you can't do a full push-up, do it on your knees. As long as you try and feel the burn, you'll see the results. What I didn't do, but wish I did was take before and after photos like the program tells you to do. It really keeps you motivated when you compare your day 1 to day 30, then day 60 and day 90 pics. Youtube p90x result vids and you'll see what I mean. |

unless you eat enough. the program designed against over training believe or not, its a pretty insanely well put together program. although i wouldnt do the "lean" program.
its an awesome program guys. start it next monday, the longer you wait the less likely you are to start it ( aimed more toward dude that sat through the videos and says hes going to start in a month... hahaha) |

lol this came just in time...
I've been through one lazy cycle, went from 180 to 145lbs... I use to be 220lbs. I really didn't have any muscle mass then. I did the drop to 180 by cleaning my diet and some jogging, im 5'11 btw... then from 180 to 145 I basically put my own routine together using P90X:
Mon- Chest and Tri's Tues- Back and Bi's Wed- Legs Thurs- Abs and that's what i meant by lazy... but after taking a break from that I'm getting back on the horse, and this time i'll do it right. I'll be 21 in 3 months so I'm hoping to get ripped by then =P Got my self some protein powder from costco and some scivation xtend for recovery

i would like to add, DO NOT be afraid of using lighter weights. get over yourself. curling 10-15lbs may seem like cake but imagine doin 30 reps, then doing 30 more! so start lighter. it's all about form.
this routine is a learning process, about the program and yourself. i had to quit smoking for this shit. this program is for those who are kind of in shape already. if you haven't worked out in a while i don't suggest starting this program right away. do some jogging/cardio work to get your muscles warm and kicking. it'll be easier to handle. get a small tub of the cheap creatine monohydrate you see at walmart or whatever, dump 5 gram of it in some juice on days you dont work out. but i wouldnt cheap out on creatine. some of that stuff wil make you feel like shit ALL the time, like super bloated feel like youre going to fart your face of all day. i definatley suggest getting controlled labs green MAGnitude. its really not too bad. GNC sucks nuts. get the controlled labs stuff on isupplements.com or bodybuilding.com those are the 2 cheapest normally.
im not a CL rep ive just used their stuff and a lot of others and their stuff is the best by far and usually cheaper hahaha. OH shit i almost forgot about CL GLycergrow which is my favorite supp and its only like 25 bucks for 6 months hahahaha. shit i could go on forever. |
