Thanks for all the support guys!
It's an MR2 electronic power steering pump that's relocated to the back of the car and just have the lines running back up to the front (ran out of room in the engine bay). We also had to go electronic, because the mechanical pump wasn't able to fit on the engine with it being dry sump and having to relocate the alternator to where the power steering pump was. It ends up being very beneficial, in that it is extremely easily replaced and it's not soaking in all the heat from the engine. it will create some heat by being electronic, but we ran a setrab cooler to counteract that.

Will you be installing an Air Jack system? I re-read the whole thread and I think it's the ONLY thing that you don't have yet! Would be icing on the chassis cake.

2 videos are in this post...plus a TON of photos! Enjoy, guys!
PART 1: Well, guys...she made it to her first event/show! Touge Factory put in the most extreme effort and did what I personally thought wasn't going to happen...getting the car all back together and running for the Tuner Galleria this past Saturday. They received the car back from paint on Monday around 11am and had it together and running by 1am Friday morning! The show was amazing and had an awe inspiring array of vehicles and styles. Touge Factory brought over a number of vehicles and displayed them around the Stance Suspension and Mackin Industries booths...along with some of their models. Touge Factory was joking around about how they don't build show cars and that they never win an award, because of that...they build race cars, but today turned out to be quite a shock. Here are some of the vehicles that Touge Factory brought to display at Tuner Galleria and show off the immense quality of their work. PART 2: Now onto my vehicle. This was it's debut event, so my girlfriend and I decided to make the journey up from Pennsylvania to see my car in Chicago. We went in their hoping for it to catch a little attention, but not actually be able to win any awards. The level of some of the other cars and the check list that the judges had to go through just made it look impossible to win any award. Quickly, though, the car started to catch A LOT of attention and some members involved with the event later told me that my Touge Factory built 350z was the talk of the whole show. If you know me, you'd know that my mind was completely blown away, when I heard that. I have never had something like this happen to me before. My goal was to just build a reliable and competitive time attack car...not a show stopper. Here are some of the photos of the car. PART 3: With the car being talked about quite a bit, the judges all seemed to make their way over to the car to see what all the hype was about. Again...I LOVE my car, but I didn't see it as a show car and Touge Factory was on the same page as I, since they didn't build it to be a show car...It was built to be souly a track car. The judges all came and then left and we were left puzzled as to what was going to happen at the award ceremony. When the award ceremony came, they had roughly 40 trophies and TONS of people competing for them. Clearly the odds weren't looking good for the race car building Touge Factory and myself. As the award ceremony came, we started to notice that a number of Touge Factory members were winning awards for different things. In total, Touge Factory walked away with large amount of awards. As the awards kept being announced, fewer and fewer awards remained. Making me realize that the car wouldn't win anything. Not best Nissan or street car...nothing. With only two trophies remaining, I told my girlfriend she should probably just stop recording, but it's a good thing she didn't. Some how the Lord blessed me with winning Best of Show. I couldn't even believe it and someone had to yell for me to go up there, which you'll hear in the video. LOL This isn't even all the awards that went to Touge Factory vehicles. Traveling safely home with my two trophies! My girlfriend is taking the picture. PART 4: After some pictures with the car and the other winners from Touge Factory, I finally got the chance to hear it run for the first time in person and sit in my finished car. The video does zero justice for how it actually sounds, but you get the idea! My girlfriend decided she wanted to sit in it too! Thanks again guys for all the constant support and as we all know, car builds are never truly over...so there will be more to come shortly!

Damn, being really happy for a stranger is a crazy/weird feeling. Congrats dude! You honestly have one of the sickest 350s ever, as evidence by your award. Thanks for the update!

Well, as we all know this isn't a show car...so it was time for her to do her first shake down! Touge Factory took her out and put here through the paces. Prior to the shake down, some things did change on the car...such as the wheels. It's now running TE37SL wheels and also bumped up the tire size a touch, but still using Toyo R888 tires.
The Z was not alone, aside from the other amazing vehicles on the track, Mike from Touge Factory brought out his incredible S14 to go play on the track. Everything performed spectacular on the vehicle and handled flawlessly. One hiccup did arise, though. The brakes don't like not having a brake booster anymore... As a result of that, They are now up for sale and I have AP Racing brakes on the way. Anyways, here are some pictures of it on the track doing what it was meant to do. Unfortunately, no video, but I will be at GridLife Time Attack in Gingerman, so I will have video then. Packing her up to bring her back to Touge Factory. A cool little photo shop someone did of some of the 350z cars that were at the track. More to come...VERY SOON! As always, I can't thank Touge Factory enough for all the amazing work they have put into this car. Also, thank you guys for all the supportive comments!

Thanks, guy! I should have it around June.
I'm going to hope you aren't suggesting that I haven't worked hard to get the car to where it is today, because that would be a very poor assumption. Besides, jealousy is very unbecoming.

This is really cool, and I like what this would do for weight distribution (in terms of polar moment of inertia).... probably handles excellently... but I can't help but feel the Z chassis is automatically at a disadvantage due to overall weight no matter what, even with the SR... I don't see it being very competitive, but it would be awesome to see otherwise.
EDIT: Related to this, have you seen the SR2_VET powered FD RX7 from Finland? I hope that thing shows up at World Time Attack this year. Looks incredible. |

Yes, that is an amazingly impressive car. Not 100% sure why he removed the rotary, but either way it is an incredible car.
As for weight, it really isn't that disadvantaged. It is right around the 3000lbs mark, which actually isn't bad, since it was around the 3400lbs area. The Evo, STI, GTR, TC, ZR1, BMW 3-series and TONS of other vehicles are all right around the same factory weight as a Z or higher. Also, many of those cars listed, including the 350, are often seen on the track and on the podium. Last, plenty of 350z cars have won time attack events lol so I'm not worried the slightest bit about it being competitive. anyways, it will be at GridLife in Gingerman on May 29-31 so we will see how she competes then.

So the car has had a few changes, since it's first shakedown. The brakes have been changed. The original brakes were meant to run perfect with a booster (which we no longer have). With the booster gone, a lot of testing would have needed to be done with different size lines, masters, ect. and with time restricted, the simplest and quickest thing to do was just change out the brakes. An Accusump was also added for some pre-oiling and a few other little odds and ends like the coils.
The car did see the dyno for the final time at Sound Performance. With the change from the original Borg Warner EFR 8374 turbo to the Precision 5862, the original power estimate did drop...obviously. It was run at 25psi on a mustang dyno, so the numbers are slightly lower than a dynojet. The turbo is also maxed out, so any increase in power will require a change in turbo. On a dynojet, it would read more around the 650whp mark. All in all I'm happy with the numbers and love the curve on the smaller turbo. More updates after GridLife Time Attack at the end of this month, with Touge Factory!

Reason for dropping the 8374 EFR?

Maxed at 25psi? I've seen the Evo guys run that thing to 40. I don't think you're even close to max shaft speed on that turbo. If you're running pump gas, I could see how you might be fuel-limited.
