Optimal handling: Staggered or square?
Went through a few staggered wheel threads. Too bad they were all made during drift craze which is not what im after. Ive heard that although 17/18 sets cause weight imbalance (and more $$), 18 rears also offer more grip depending on tire size of course.

The variables are important.
A car with staggered tires can oversteer due to power or chassis setup and a car with a square setup can understeer like crazy. Brokeboi, a square setup is typically the most neutral with an emphasis on turn-in. I've run square setups on track since... forever, but I have approximately seven hamsterpower. |

I’m not sure how a 17/18 stagger could cause an “imbalance”, or how an 18in wheel could have more grip. It all comes down to 1. How you like the car to handle, 2. How you get the car to handle the way you like, and 3. The compound of the tire you run.
I had a very sub-optimal setup for chasing actual grip, but it handled amazing neutral, with just the slightest touch of on-throttle oversteer, which made me have a lot of confidence in the car and I could comfortably push it to it’s limits.
